Paradigm 4.0. their most cushiony ever. i didn't want to spend money on a corrective/supportive shoe just to heal. These are still 0 drop but with the arch support insoles, I can support the arch while I rest and do PT. Then take them out and go back to my normal running in them, just being careful to strength train, recover properly, and work up slowly to higher mileage.

I was handling the 30K-ish distance well and will probably stick to that max, every couple weeks, rather than try to be a marathoner. Bumping from 20 to 26 is what wore out the tendon this last time. We'll see. I'm more interested in half-marathon, 10k and 15K anyway, with a 70.3 IM as a goal.

and, yeah, I've had gait/stride analysis done a couple times (by Perry Julian), back when i had bad IT-band issues. Going to zero drop about 8 years ago and changing my stance, stride, cadence, strike--everything pretty much--got rid of those issues. but running in trail-running altras with no support, on a lot of pavement probably didn't help the tendon.

I have always had "fallen arches," and I'm bowlegged-- Dr. Julian once told me I had the "most f'ed up biomechanics" he'd ever seen.

This ortho yesterday just said, in short, my tendons are old and the miles caught up to me.

I've checked marathon distance off the list, and I'm not sure I'll do another one. I just need to set other goals that involve multi-sport. Maybe a Spartan?

Just curious, did the doctor recommend changing to a zero drop shoe at the time? I had IT band issues a month or so back, but continued to run in my 6mm drop shoes. Changed my gait to prevent crossing over and that seemed to get rid of the pain. Still nervous that excessive milleage will cause it to flare up again. I tried 0mm drop Altas before, but couldn't settle in on them. I am willing to give them another chance if it means prolonging my streak of painless running.

Diagnosis: Tibialis posterior tendinitis. Rx: PT (at same facility), arch supoort, cushiony shoes (got the super cushion Altras so I can run in them when I'm healed), rest and ice.

No arthritis or bone issues at all, so I should start back running in a few weeks. In time for true fall. It's gonna be pool, bike, rings, and heavy things until then.

Run some miles for me y'all!

glad to hear that. been missing your commentary for a bit.

Get some rest!

Julian is big on selling custom orthotics I think, so no he didn't recommend zero drop.

I want to research shoes and further adjust running/training habits with this new issue.

I broke the number one rule of fitness: don't get hurt.

Hit some core and arm work in the gym & decided to do my speed work on the treadmill, which I loathe. I refuse to do any midday sprints/speed in this oppressive shite. Already dreading 5 miles I have planned for tomorrow around noon.

It feels so damn good to work up a good sweat where it actually cools you down and get out the shower and not continue to sweat. Tired of bitching about the heat, but I reckon misery loves company.

8x400m sprints with 400m walk/jog in between.

I walked for hours this morning as I couldn't sleep. Close to 18 miles according to my knock off fitbit

I walked, came home, walked to Walgreens to get Deadpool 2 (recommend) at a RedBox, watched it, and then went walking again

My knees are going to be on the struggle bus today. Not sure how much standing I'm going to do at my desk throughout the day

Hell no

We have a weekly contest at work for most steps for the week and I'm now 50,000 ahead of second place

Gonna finish in the likes of 125,000-150,000 for the week.

So what are some of you guys' goals now that Fall is here and it appears many of you have crushed your early year goals? Mine are...

Put 100+ miles in both Oct and Nov
Run a sub 22:30 5k (CY PR 23:11)
Run a sub 52:00 10k (CY PR 54:04)
Run a sub 1:55:00 Half (CY PR 1:58:17)
Run a sub 4:00:00 Marathon
Get my wife to run 50+ miles between now and the New Year.

Got 5 midday miles in today, of the oppressive variety. Finished around HMGP (9:07), but man what a shitty run. On nights, so only slept about 4 hours and the sun was relentless. Better days ahead.

I have the Northshore Race coming up which I hope to finish sub 2:00:00. The Tiger 10K early December which I hope to finish around 00:50:00. I’d like to get in 3 Halfs between fall/spring. Not sure which ones as it will depend on work and of course how life with a baby is coming along, as obviously that is top priority.

Why don't you ask her to wait until after the New Year to have the baby?

Ha! I wish; I’ll be lucky if she holds out till the Nortshore Race in a couple weeks. Also, he’s due on Bama weekend. Could potentially be a great weekend all around... or not. Hell 1 outta 2 ain’t bad.

-reach 1k miles before october is out. need about 120 miles. i was ahead of schedule till August and September. i just had no will to go get 5+ mile runs for 2 months
-trail half marathon in february. no goals, just want to finish. it's wet and cold with bookooz of hills
-get my wife to recup from 2 foot surgeries this year with running. i'd like her to do a 5k before the year is out and a 10k in the spring. she hates, running, but she hates how lean i stay even more.
- sub 45 10k
- sub 1:50 half marathon

My only goal is really to get back running and to run a few races.

I'm definitely not going to break any PRs this fall.
