Does anyone wear those socks that are left/right foot specific?
Injiji toe socks? I have a couple pairs. They’re good, don’t fit as tight as I’d like. Also, major PITA to put on so I kind of stopped wearing them. I’m really enjoying my Swiftwick’s right now.
There are other socks that are R/L specific but not toe socks. Usually bc they place a supportive band on the arch so they have to bc specific to each foot.

Ok, that makes sense. I couldn’t figure out why it mattered.

They also contour socks to follow the anatomical shape of the foot. Toe taper and taper from toe to the heel. Don’t know that there is any benefit to be had besides a potentially more comfortable fit.

I almost exclusively wear Feetures which do have the R/L designation. I'm not sure it makes any difference, but I do love them.

I just have some pairs that will say L/R but I'm not really seeking them out. I usually use those on my longer runs. Regular runs, I just use the plain ol Asics socks.
This AM was a 5 mile recovery run slow pace zone 2.

What HR is this for you? I find it hard to stay in zone 2. Really more of a fast walk for me.

I usually run at night with most of my time being in the yellow and a little orange on my Apple Watch heart rate monitor. I ran at lunch today and it was mostly orange with 10 minutes of red.
When I got done I just laid in the bathtub and turned the cold water on. I don’t know how people run in that heat.

If you run in the heat frequently, you will adapt some. Some people adapt better than others though. Regardless, your HR is always going to be higher than normal when the heat index is around 85 or higher. If you are running 3-4 miles, it may not be as noticeable. It will catch up with you after 6 miles for sure though if you don’t adjust your pace appropriately. Runners often refuse to slow down in those situations which undermines the goal of the workout.

If I run in the middle of the day here in Texas, I’m in Zone 4 before the end of Mile 1. If we get a cooler morning (like today) I stay in zone 2 (134-149) as long as I want until I pick up the pace. The heat sucks but when that first cool snap hits in October, it will be worth it.

I call it 2 in my effort but with this heat it's probably 3. I have found those charts do not account for each person's fitness level. 128bpm 9:00 pace.
Today I did 50 mile bike 126bpm @ 20.5mph. However, that was not a zone 2 ride.
This garmin gives me way too much data.

Damn Baw, I think you had 4:30 in you. 135 HR.

Ha well I was only running for 5 minutes so it didn’t have too long to elevate. Still not sure it was too accurate.
I can go faster for sure. Didn’t have anyone to pace me or “race” against. Don’t have a 4:30 in me right now though. Maybe if I lost 20 pounds.

13 miles @ 9:05 today. Feels great out there! First two miles had 700ft of climb. Downhill or flat the rest of the way. Only two water stops today.

Week 1/8 week mini block complete. First week with 2 workouts in probably a year. Really gonna focus on keeping my easy days easy, and saving the effort for workouts. Did a good job the last couple days with holding back and not letting my HR rise above 160. While not ideal, that’s still high aerobic for me and not pushing threshold. It’s about the best I can do right now considering weather/fitness, etc. Any slower and my form becomes affected and my HR actually rises.
I’m fully expecting these 2 storms to obliterate my training this week. Sigh...

That's my concern. Might be doing some plyometric training at home or hit the parking garages.
6 miler this morning
2-tempo
2-hillwork
2-tempo
I'll be glad when it just gets slightly cooler. I'm not asking for much. Just slightly.

Put my money where my mouth is -->
Tuesday starts week 1/12 , with coach, for White River Marathon plan.
Flying to Boise on 10/25 for half marathon PR attempt @ 1:49:59.
Still doing Mississippi Gulf Coast , not worried about time/PR , going to have fun.
Woodands Marathon in March of 2021 will give me a benchmark on skill & potential.
