LSU Patrick,

You give tons of support to the runners on here and I really appreciate it.

Good luck breaking through your lull & making the progress you want.

Thanks, Rsande. I appreciate the kind words.

Salmon, try to get started tomorrow. It usually only takes me a run or two to get going again.

Ha, checking on the FBD thread from yesterday. Looks like this lasted about a day, huh? Reminds me of myself.

Trying to cut out beer at least during the week, so far so good this week. Getting thirsty though!

Yeah, I'd imagine your line of work is extra stressful right about now. Saw you got back out there this am. Hopefully you get back on track.

On the training front, I'm starting to work my way back up to 20 minute tempo runs. Did some threshold work this am and it was painful. 100% humidity at 3:45 am. Brutal.

GF got me a Garmin 245 for my birthday

This thing is almost overwhelming compared to my Vivosport. Any of y’all with the 245 have any tips/tricks/preferred widgets or watchfaces?

Some of the nursing staff tested positive for COVID a couple of weeks ago. All staff and patients had to be tested as a result due to possible exposure. Try convincing psychiatric patients to allow the national guard to stick a swap up their noses. Yeah...you guessed it. Anyway, all of patients who cooperated were negative, which was great, but many nursing staff have been out. We were already shorthanded, but this really made it difficult to staff all of the units. So, the hospital has been mandating non nursing staff to work shifts as mental health technicians to fill the gaps. I have had days where I work my job as a psychologist for a few hours, change into scrubs and work as a tech for 2 hours, then go back to the psychologist role for the remainder of the day.

We also admitted a very difficult patient last week, which has everyone on edge and is consuming about 80% of my time. One of the therapists on my unit decided to retire a little earlier than planned back in April due to the COVID stuff, so I am carrying a larger caseload. Now, with this patient added to the mix, I am constantly behind on treatment planning, therapy, and documentation.

I did, and I felt pretty good too. I didn't lose any fitness despite my slump. It will take me a couple of weeks to build my mileage back up to where I was, but I'll be able to pick up where I left off with my speed and tempo work. Now, I just need to clean my diet up some and get back to the weight training.

And how does that make you feel?

What’s going on with Garmin? I’ve seen people mention it in some of my running groups but no one has said exactly what has happened?

The app won’t open at all now. Looks like they are in phase two of fixing it.

Caught 10 this morning also. Of course I’m aware of the Garmin issues lately, but now my watch is frozen, not responding to any buttons, Keeping time, etc. Tried plugging into CPU, wall, etc. Nothing.

Edit: finally got it to reset. Wonder if Polar hired a team of hackers, lmao.

Only did 6 of the 12 this AM. Made the mistake of eating Mexican last night with the wife. Honestly, I was surprised I made it that far!

I had something strange happen today. We were running up a four lane road. This means we either had to run with our back to the traffic or run on the sidewalk. There wasn’t any traffic, but I hate running with my back to traffic so I took the sidewalk.

Well, there’s a couple of ladies walking the same direction as us. They turn and see us coming. They hear us coming. Instead of making room for the faster traffic, they spread out side by side giving us very little room to pass. I squeezed by the lady at about 1 ft of distance and she lost her shite. She started screaming at us about social distancing and cussing us as we ran by. I mean, she is freaking out.

I had to feel like Karen was setting up the confrontation as she saw us and intentionally didn’t make any room for us. Who in their right mind assumes the 12 mile run group has a deadly respiratory virus?
