3 nice and cool miles this morning.

My wife is recovering from a surgery so I can’t be away from the house for long. I kept telling myself to pick up the mileage a bit before hand but start of school and her surgery snuck up on me. I foresee a lot of multiple runs close to home for a while.

9 weeks out from marathon

Hopefully I can keep training at this 8:15-8:20 pace and then run the race under 8 minutes. That would be awesome

Nice!

4 mile post Saints game run to blow off steam and finish my mileage for the week. Felt like running in a sauna, 8:58 pace.

Uh yeah that would be awesome. I'd be happy with sub-10 unless pretty flat and ideal weather. What elevation gain you looking at?

I’ve only sustained under 8 over 5 miles a time or two. I’ve kept it about 8:15 for a few half’s but it’s not easy.

I have been really pushing myself on 3-5 miles runs to keep it as close to 8 as possible when conditions are right. I’m finding it a bit easier to sustain those as I progress.

Runs have been pretty short lately so I need to up the mileage and see if I can get some 10k - 10 milers in that range.

It’s Vegas, looks like there not much elevation change. Weather is definitely my worry.

I'm so envious of all these cool weather updates.

M: OFF
Tues: 8 (2 x :16 @ 7:00 pace)
Wed: 10 (road around LaSalle)
Thurs: 8 treadmill
Fri: OFF
Sat: 19 (Orange Beach road
trail. 1 banana and Gu
to start,2 Gu, 1 honey
stinger, 1 orange, 2L
water, 500ml Gatorade)
Sun: 8.5 (road with rain. Thank
ya Jesus).

Total: 53.5 miles

Feeling good still. Nothing feels out of sorts. 2 more full weeks of high mileage, then taper. May tweak the distance during week, feels a bit long and without purpose. I have a gameplan and so far its working out. Still a little worried about the elevation gain for the race, but not much I can do.

Got a 5k scheduled this weekend. I plan on using it to find my VDOT since I haven't been all in on training yet

This week was tough just due to legs being sore all week. Only 20 miles total, but went pretty hard on leg workouts and 1/4 mile repeats. Felt it the rest of the week.

Tuesday: gym day with a lot of leg work
Wednesday: 1 mile warm up, 4 x 0.25 , 2 mile cool down.
Thursday: 5 miles at half marathon pace
Friday: 3 miles easy
Saturday: Off
Sunday: 8 miles easy (wasn't a dry portion of clothing on me from shoes to hat.....so humid).

Hitting up the pool at lunch today for cross training. Using a pull bouy the whole time to give the legs some rest.

Decent week, all things considered. Labor day, dove hunting, wife having foot surgery and not able to walk for 6 weeks.

M:Rain run: 3 miles
W:Nasty humid run: 6 miles
F:Ungodly hot and humid afternoon run: 3.5
Sat:Lake run: 4.1
Sun: morning run: 3
Afternoon run with dogs: 2

total of 21. not quite up to where i want to be but getting there.

Hopped in the Strava group this am. Always looking for added motivation. Low mileage week this week per my training plan. Gonna be tough to keep it low, but gonna try my best.

Yeah that's a pretty tight graph, with under 200 ft top-bottom and nice gradual 10 miles of decline. My run yesterday was 1558 ft gain, and that was trying to stick to relatively flat areas. Atlanta is just hilly.

Vegas looks like fun after these weeks on the Ho Chi Minh.

Do most of y'all run with your phones for Strava? Or link a Garmin?

i carry my phone to listen to podcasts or the Bible, or so that my wife can get ahold of me. i'd rather not carry it if i can avoid it, but once while doing a 8 mile run while i was traveling without my phone and getting chewed out for not answering by my wife was enough to make me carry it.

Most I run with use garmin watches that sync up to strava afterwards.

I just can’t bring myself to buy a new watch while my other one is still alive.

I mean it’s on life support, but it’s still fighting.

And no way I’m running with my phone.

That's my issue. After my FR405 died I just switched to a timex Ironman and I'm not carrying my phone

If my FR405 ever dies then I’ll upgrade

I don’t carry a phone, but once I did run with Garmin on one wrist and Apple Watch on the offer in case I needed to contact the wife

I have my Garmin auto upload when I walk in the door. I can't stand having my phone with me. Only time I bring it is if I'm running on some trail where I might twist an ankle and no-one will find me for a while .

Auto loads to Garmin Connect, Strava, and TrainingPeaks. Anyone here use TrainingPeaks? I never used it until I had a coach, but I really like the interface. Shows your planned workout, then if you complete it, it turns green. Or yellow/red if you fall short or just miss it. Records your "training stress score" and keeps track of it to measure your fitness and fatigue levels. When you dig down into the numbers and start to understand them, it's great for figuring out when you are over trained or under trained and is very useful for finding the perfect taper for a race. I quit paying for it, so I don't get the training stress score feature right now (and I don't have the most experience with it to do it myself anyway), but it's still nice to plan all my workouts and keep notes on them after they are finished. All from an app on my phone.
