I honestly don’t have an issue running in the afternoon/early evening heat. But the morning heat is almost unbearable at times. I was swerving all around the road yesterday trying to find some shade haha

Yeah shade is hard to come by for me as well. Direct sunlight no matter the temp is brutal. I prefer mornings as the pavement hasn’t had time to heat up. Makes a difference too.

Ran my first "road" half this morning, virtually.

Wife and I were supposed to be in Waco today to run the Badass Texas so she could get a feel for the Half Ironman course in October.

We went ahead and knocked it out at home this morning, humid but tolerable.

I much prefer the trails but I stuck with her at an 11:15 pace and we got it done. I am planning on running 50K in early November so the slow and steady is fine.

Only got about 35 documented miles in this week. Probably a couple more in there from other workouts.

Should be back over 40 again this week.

Signed up for a 15K on 10/31..we shall see what happens

I had my best week in several months. Still a long way to go. I took the first half of my run today really easy and did the second half at usual easy pace. I wanted to get a baseline for the heat and humidity that has finally arrived in Kansas.

6 miles this morning. 900 ft elevation gain. Too much for me this soon, but I enjoyed it. Little plantar fasciitis from it and a blister on my right foot.

Thunderstorm this morning. I flipped things around and did my weight training first thing. I'll get my run in after work when the rain has passed.

Humidity 96% when I finished my run at 6am. Yuck. 5 easy miles in the books. Can’t wait til fall.

I’m taking a week off and lifting weights with high intensity cardio. I’m getting real bored with the long, slow runs.

But then it’ll be dark and cold.

Not sure which I hate more. Running in the dark or running in the humidity.

Houston area has their first confirmed race on the books --> 5K in Beaumont area on July 4th.

The restrictions are more for staff & volunteers and for runners only changes include staggering starts, limiting # of people, and limited post race party. Nothing different on the course.

Damn. Where are you running?

It was nice running in the rain yesterday. Nice change of pace from the heat.

4.14 miles; time 50:34, elevation is 9000’

First time to run in a long time, almost vomited, I’m about 30lbs from where I need to be.

I saw your comment on Strava. That 10K sounds horrible in the middle of July, but I may be interested in it. Wish it was a little cheaper, but at this point the only race I have planned is the Houston Half in October.

Kballa,

I'm with you--> hot and not cheap !

I need something before 6/22 to get my training pace ranges + mentally get comfortable with running in a group again.

Ouch! Road 5K in July in Houston? That's quite the fortitude test.

Street and Trail races start back next weekend in metro Atlanta. There is a 5k for a brewery that’s about .5 mile from my house and 5/10 mile trail race about 30 min from here. I’m in a predicament because idk which to do.
