I'm feeling great this week. I've reduced my total mileage a bit from 52 miles to 45 and increased the amount of lactate threshold and speed work with more specificity for the 5K distance. My average pace for my easy runs (heart rate range of ~136-150) has dropped from 10:30 to 9:00, and my lactate threshold (currently ~168-174 BPM) pace has dropped from 8:40 to 7:30 since I started this training cycle in August. I have my sights set on a local 5K on December 14th, which leaves me 2-3 more weeks of sharpening.

Welp, got the green light from Neuro today to resume normal operations. I’m treating it as a yellow light and will proceed sloooowly, as I’m sure he didn’t mean banging out intervals at the track. Gonna be some psychological issues to work through as well since my stroke happened while running. Working with a Therapist to get through that.
Actually feel stronger in the hips, mobility and balance than before due to the high level PT I’ve been doing.
Obviously the 19:00 5K or 01:30 HM PR’s won’t fall this Fall as intended, but I’m beyond elated to just get the green light to resume. Probably pick up a race around Feb and planning to def do the CCC in April.
The unknown is how my body/muscles will react. If everything will be firing as normal, etc. Also my endurance will be pretty much nil due to inactivity/stroke fatigue in general.
Good news is I’m off of work till at least 1/10, so no rush to ease into it. Feeling grateful.
Hoping to see Burt crush it this weekend (and whoever else is toeing the line).

Nope. 2nd
Everyone has been telling me I’m a freak for putting in that time on 1 year 11 months of running at thirty eight. I’m starting to think they’re right.

Give us a recap when you get around to it. Fueling, hydration, etc...

What’s your status HB? On the shelf indefinitely, Brah?

Mostly just a lazy bum
I’ve been good at staying lifting but have not been good about diet and cardio.
I’m the strongest I’ve ever been but not near as lean as I was

Rooooots, welcome back to pounding some pavement!

Eeeer, not quite pounding but feels good to be out there, man. Right leg not firing like it should and battling some psychological barriers as well, due to my stroke happening while actually running, but I’ll be back in due time. Taking it extra slow, obviously. Keep killing it man!

Thanks everyone! Not a whole lot to say. I did take some gels (4) but couldn’t put any water down. Not hydrating might have cost me some time as well as head winds both ways but I ain’t mad about it. Everyone had to run through the same nonsense. Bonked at about 23.5 and just held on.
@PHB that was supposed to be an upvote, sorry about that. Thanks again!
ETA: Forgot to mention I was on the brink of getting a cold last night; bet I won’t be able to hold it off now.
