Hit the track for some 800s this afternoon in the light rain. It was an awesome break from the heat. Gotta take advantage when I can. First time I wore the Zoom Fly FK on a track. I like.

Feetures light cushion or swiftwick if you don't need the heel tab. Feetures are my racing sock and I like the swiftwicks when it's raining because they're so thin.

I run in dry max socks, usually the thinnest cushion but I do have a couple of pair with a little more cushion. They keep my feet cool and dry and are durable.

Bought a road bike guys. I'm going to try to supplement my runs with riding my off days. It'll be here Tuesday.

Yeah, I'm getting dominated by folks doing half the miles as me and the same amount of speed work. Need to figure out a way to even the playing field so I guess it's no off days for a while. Either kicking rocks or riding.

You’re too damn hard on yourself, Brah. Define “dominated”.

5k and beer mile this morning after 3 solid hours of basketball yesterday.

Riding my bike to course as well.

Legs feeling mushy already (I stopped at coffee shop on the way). Oh well. This is mostly for fun. And beer. Lots of beer.

He’s being (sincerely) humble.

FWIW, I usually put in the most miles in my group and definitely the hardest of the high miles. Meaning some guys do 10-15 miles a week but they’re averaging 7- low 8s. Some do 30-40 but they’re doing high 8s to 9s.

There is this one mofo that can take 2-3 weeks off then bust out a 10k at 7:00 or lower pace without effort. I think he did a 20 minute 5k after 2 weeks of no running. Some people just have extra gears or have a higher V02 max than the rest of us and it’s infuriating.

Burt, you’re a beast and us human runners are impressed as heck.

Thanks bro. And you said it, some guys can go out and just do it and do it fast. Guys like you and me gotta put in the work and that’s okay too. I’m damn sure gonna out work em though and try and get to a point where I can scare em a little. I got a guy that whipped my arse by a minute and a half last time we raced a 5k together. He got me by a little under a second this last two mile race and he had to cut me off and get me off my route a few times to do it. And hell yeah I’m hard on myself, ain’t nobody gonna do the work for me. All about internal locus of control not external. I change the world around me the world don’t change me because the world DGAF.

Seriously though, you guys are great and I love the confidence but let’s get our shite together as a group, get the fricking miles this summer, and beat some arse this fall race season. Make em learn your name in your hood.

I dunno about all that mess but I’m going after KOMs all summer. for reals, I have teenage kids. My race season is dictated by their schedule.

I have 4 more KoMs to get all 15 in my neighborhood.

The last one is a 1.2 mile run right in front of my house where I’m going to have to go sub 6.

I felt old today. Worst 5k time in about 12 or so years. Maybe longer. Stomach decided it did not like my breakfast burrito/coffee combo this morning. Had to walk some just to keep things from turning real bad.

Got beat by my running buddy that has never beat me in a race in 10 years running together.

Oh well. Still had fun. Kinda. The beer was good.

Burrito and coffee? I’d have been in some bushes without a doubt.

Well the plan always is to get the poop out of the way, so I try to force the issue.

It didn’t happen today till about 1.5 mile in...

Fastish finish long run this morning, very controlled. Felt great the whole time. Recovery week is over, ready for some more hot assed training and the 2 a days. 225 over the next three weeks or bust mothertruckers.

Got in 13.1 this am. First run in the Boston 7’s. Pretty responsive and stable ride, narrow fit. Can’t beat the FF Beacon for long runs in my closet for now, but definitely have a place for tempo/workouts/mid paces. Felt better at a faster pace and the upper is very well ventilated and cool, which is key right about now. Well worth the 50 bones.

Recovery week ahead as I start the Daniel’s 2Q 18 week HM plan a week from today. Definitely can use the low volume week and then it’s time to roll!

EDIT: Looked at the dates wrong, plan actually doesn't start until a week from this Sunday, 6/23.
