I love group running. Unfortunately most of my group is really fast and competitive. I occasionally go run at our local brewery with a group and most of our casual runs will dominate there.

Had a fun trail run this morning with my crew. First time to get to 30 miles in a few weeks (steamboat hiking is obviously cheating) and I got almost 3k feet of climb on the week.

I have no use for big cities longer than a few days.

No offense to our L.A./NOLA/Houston/Atlanta runners.

Hit em with the 4” (inseam that is). Tried to keep it civil.

Run wasn’t bad, albeit slower than I wanted. Ran with a PT that I met at the Mardi Gras Mambo earlier this year and it was her first run since breaking her toe 4 weeks ago, so couldn’t push it like I wanted to. Gonna get a couple 10K loops at the Lakes tomorrow and may do it as a progression if I feel as good as I did today.

Fast finish long runs might be my favorite workout. Sounds like you're getting adjusted to the humidity and heat.

Last night's race was kind of a breakthrough. Even though it was short, it let me realize that breaking seventeen this year, at this age is possible if I stay healthy. Just need to get big miles this summer.

How badly does you guy's performance go down when it gets to be summer weather? I'm normally good for 7-9 miles at a 8-8:30 pace, but in the last few weeks i've only been able to squeeze out 4-5 miles at around a 9:30 pace. And I'm exhausted after runs now instead of energized. I'm struggling right now

Sometimes I enjoy runs with slower people to work on keeping a steadier pace. I recognize that I’m a pretty streaky runner all and all ( I can go under 8 by accident or think I’m cruising to an over 9 pace) and sometimes I enjoy sticking with our older guys in my group at a conversational pace. My goals are more to get into longer 50ks if time ever permits and that will be the definition of learning to pace yourself.

I used to think I would want to do an ultra

After 2 marathons, I just can’t imagine pushing and extra 5 miles for a 50K (at least not running). Those last few miles were hurting (although energy felt ok)

You gotta accept the slow/walking part of an ultra.

I’m just not a distance runner. It’s not in my DNA. Im too heavyset and build like a RB/LB, not a distance runner. I can hold my own against 90% of the population under a half mile, but there’s no market for a 35 year old guy who can run a 60ish second 1/4 mile, so here I am.

A lot, at first. Now starting to adjust and feel even stronger than I did when it was cooler out.

11 mile progression this am + 1 CD. Planned on 12 progression, but my legs are demolished after the 8 yesterday also.

3” inseam, shirtless, soaking wet, exertion shrinkage on full display. No shame, at least my wife loves me.

One time a friend that knew I had gotten into running and asked if losing the weight made my dick look bigger.

I said sadly the opposite.

gotta Run in the morning while it’s still dark. Otherwise the heat is too much.

Not me, I prefer a group, especially for a long easy run. I like to talk so it keeps me not thinking about the miles or pace or anything. I just run by feel and catch up with friends. My speed work I prefer alone though.

I did 10 on Saturday at 8:38 avg pace. Pretty easy effort but the damn humidity. I was standing around to stretch after and had a puddle forming from the drippage off my shorts

I ran a 5k with work friends on Saturday. That will be my only distance running for at least a year or so.

Anyone have a Garmin Forerunner 235 charger they are no longer using? If so, I would be happy to take it off of your hands.

I left mine with a relative by accident and went and got one on Amazon prime for about $12.

Not the answer you were looking for but I’m still using mine.

I wish they used a mini USB charger. Looks like I'll be using my wife's apple watch until I can get a new charger in. Hope she appreciates me closing in some circles for her.
