Thank you. I don't want to stop running for a week, but I'd rather do it now than later in training. Might have to just let it rest.

Bursitis is something that can keep NFL running backs (elite athletes) out for weeks. Best to bite the bullet and rest it.

Monday was warm, but I think a cold front is coming through and temps will drop to 40's at night.

Getting hot in TX yet? This morning was my first shirtless run of the year. Can't wait to hear all of the usual AnarexNick jokes from my neighbor buddies.

Same here. It was fuggin glorious even for the 20 mph gusts. Got 4 in and then some garage db/kb/plyo work.

I just got in from 5 days on the road so no runs yet but it’s just about shirtless weather here. It’ll go up and down in the next few weeks as I’ve had more than my fair share of Easter’s below freezing... but today I’m regretting my jeans for the drive home.

Cool thing happened to me. Figured I would share. I've been testing The Saucony Triumph ISO 5 for the past 2.5 months. Ended up liking them much more than I anticipated. I was curious as to whether or not I could get the shoes sent back to me once Saucony did their review, so last week I cold called their headquarters and got in touch with someone in their testing department. Told me he could not return that specific shoe since it had some concept elements to it, but offered to send me a production pair for free. Also tagged me a priority tester for future test. Made it sound like I'll have first right of refusal, assuming I meet all the credentials for the particular shoe they are testing. Got my new shoes in today with a cool note about how he appreciated my phone call. Saucony for the win!

That’s awesome. How did you get on that program.

One of the TROT guys I know does a pilot program with Altra so he gets new stuff all the time.

I tested Saucony years back, and they continued to include me on their tester emails. I think I initially signed up online.

Couldn't have happened to a cheaper person. My wife was asking me for running shoe recomendations, and I unknowingly kept referring her $60 shoes. Said she was going to go ask someone else who wasn't so tight.

Damn, boys, I'm out for don't know how long.
Somehow I developed a sharp hip pain while running last weekend, and now I can't run even a quarter mile without intense hip pain.
Gonna be some downtime, but I'm supposed to run a half in a few weeks.

After my wife had major reconstruction on her feet I went and researched the hell out of shoes for her pronation and foot shape post surgery. I found models of Brooks, Asics, Mizuno that were tailor made for what she was dealing with. I told her don’t worry about the cost, I want her to feel confident getting back out there. I lined them all up at Academy and our other shoes store. She went through all of them and said meh.

Finally I said “look there’s a Saucony that I got for $30 once because I forgot running shoes when traveling once and they annoyed me because they were made for over pronation.”

She bought those and said it’s the best her foot has ever felt.

Damn man. Get well soon. I'm sure it's killing you, but a minor illness won't hold you back! Rest or do whatever you gotta do to get right. The pavement with be there; besides, you can afford to lose a little bit of fitness.

Two weeks out from my last race of the spring (half). Hopefully I've got the perfect taper for me planned out. Some of these plans though...

Higdon taper is like frick it, don't run for three weeks prior which is asinine.

McMillan wants you to do two speed workouts on race week, which is also retarded.

Hoping you get better Hog.

I’m honestly kinda glad you’re down and Burt didn’t kill it all week because your Strava always embarrassed me and I spent the better part of the week not doing much and being a fatass.

I did finally get around to pairing my Garmin with an HR. Going to be a bit more serious with my training and figuring out what I’m more capable of starting tomorrow.

I’ll check it out.

Most of running science is pseudoscience. The zero drop, the stability shoes, supplements, etc. only people backing that shite is the people that are selling it.

If you have some double blind experiments that are peer reviewed and published to a respected journal proving the stuff you use is the best, I’d love to see it.

Running is a difficult sport to nail down, there’s still so much mystery in it and that’s why I like it.

I remember when I was in high school cross country and it was all the rage that the most efficient way to run was heel to toe. Also, you had to get three speed sessions a week because it was speed over mileage. Now it’s the opposite.

So when I go though these guys plans, I am taking them with a grain of salt. Anyone that claims to have all the answers, usually has none of them.

Old man rant on [off]

Now get off my frickin lawn.

6th overall in the 5K. 19:15 unofficial. Brooks giving out top 10 awards, so we’ll see. I dig free garb.
