I think so too. I’ve got a month to get used to them. Almost feels like I’m running in stilettos now. Nike’s have always felt narrow for me.

Got in an easy 7 this morning, but literally on my last two steps of the run I pulled a hip flexor muscle. Never pulled that one before. Will have to take tomorrow off and assess.

shite. My former-college-track-athlete wife just went for a run for the first time in three years. Ran a mile and got pissed because she was winded after running a ten minute mile.

My reign as the House Runner is about to come to an end. I’ve been telling her that marathon running is way different than sprinting and that my paces are more indicative of how difficult long distance running is.

I give her two months until she’s smoking my arse on every run.

I always try to get my wife to run. She takes HIIT classes like candy but absolutely hates running. I keep telling her if she really wants to lean all the way out she needs to start running with me.

She had foot surgeries this year but I think she’s pretty committed to getting into it after New Years. I’m not worried. She can beat me in tennis and basketball all day but running continuously a straight line I have down pat.

Nope, these are just things that happen when you are 50, have been running since you were 10, and are pushing your body. Hopefully just a little strain and will be back soon. Race next weekend is at risk though.

Finally got a long run in yesterday.
20 miles @9:20 pace.
I felt great but it ended up getting a little warm here yesterday. My last 5miles it was pushing 70 degrees and sunny. I was shooting for 9 min pace but oh well. Next weekend special workout, the following 22, one more 13 and I should be good to go for Jan 20.

Next weekend I’m trying round up a few friends to do a 5x5k trail run. Run a 5k every hour on the hour for 5 hours. Start at 7 finish by 12.

It’s been fun following this thread with everybody. Anything been decided on a meet & greet race?

Somebody in here was talking about their wife and HIIT classes...I got in a 20 mile long run yesterday. Legs are trashed, and all I wanted to do today was stretch and get in a jog/walk for recovery at an extremely low HR. Wife convinced me to go to her workout class at the gym. Told me it would be stretching and light movement. I’m always kind of teasing her about these classes she goes to but really had no idea what they do. It was 45 minutes of nothing but solid burpees, pushups, hip thrusters, squats, lunges, etc. I was dying but didn’t want to look like an a-hole just standing there with my dick in my hand. I’m in an extreme amount of pain at the moment. Prob won’t be making fun of those classes any time soon

I used to meet my wife at her classes after trail runs on Saturdays. I’d kill her class and she’d get pissed at me for showing off and asked me to stop coming.

I’m not some beastly dude in the gym at all. I’ve just been up since 5:30 and my blood has been pumping for 2 hours. You and your soccer mom friends just rolled out of bed 30 minutes ago.

I'm in a state of over training right now. Went out for a 2x10min @ race pace today and my body is falling apart.

Knee is still effed up from falling in the trail race, shins were sore for the first time, both hips were sore this morning.

Also, gained 5 pounds this week. Idle hands may spend time at the genitals, but my hands spend time in the cookie jar.

I'm just a hot frickin mess right now. I just want to get this half over with this weekend and reset.

Yeah, luckily the rest of the week is easy until Saturday. 6 easy tomorrow then off, 4 mile easy day before and then it's race day. Unfortunately, my body requires a few runs or I'll come out flat on Saturday.

I will say this, I'm tired of this wind. Today was okay but if I show up and it's as bad as it has been lately, I'm grabbing my shirt and driving home.

It's my last race until February and I don't have any time or patience left to frick around with 20 MPH wind for 13 miles.

Do I sound like a man that's lost his patience or what? Sheesh.
