Suggestions? Podcast I listen to suggested a 'boxer's jump rope' which was leather and had ball bearings in the handle? Anyway, I'd like a nice one.

I like RPM ropes. That’s more of a speed rope. I’ve had mine for years with no issues.

I'm imagining a sitcom where a silly side character is in financial trouble and someone's trying to help him out. They go over the finances and mention that their jump rope note is really holding them back.

I just bought an EVO G2 rope from RXSmartgear

It wasn’t cheap.

rxsmartgear is what i used for years, it eventually broke from usingit on concrete(lasted about 3 years) and i ordered the sonic boom m2 speed rope from amazon. its actually nicer than the rxsmartgear

but for basic fitness i.e. normal skipping and not double unders I prefer a weighted rope. any of the nicer ones that are atleast a pound on amazon will work.

I started jump roping after 20 years of running and love it. I had a skip rope (lightweight), but I got this one on amazon. It has a digital jump counter which I like as I gamify it and try to avg over 140 jumps/minute.

I use a good mat on top of the garage floor.

One reason I stopped running was my years-long plantar fasciitis. Believe it or not, jump rope helped big time w/ my PF.

When I first started, I couldn't do more than 1 minute w/out tripping up. Now I usually go 2-3 min... my record is 13.5 minutes w/out a stop... but now I'm started to get foot pain at the top (from overdoing it).

btw if you ahve a kid into sports and want to improve his footwork coordination....jump rope is millions times better than speed ladder and other so called "agility" work

I always feel like I look like an a-hole when I jump rope. I have pretty hood coordination in everything but jump roping. I start and feel like I’m slamming my feet back into the ground. Every time I try to switch to being light in my feet and bouncing on my toes the rope hits my feet. It’s perplexing. I’d love to get better but it’s so damn frustrating.

Get a cheap speed rope first to make sure you stick with it, lest the $5k jump rope wind up in the pile of unused fitness gear.

My rpm rope is great. When the wire wears out it’s easy to replace.

Not sure what works my feet more: jumping rope or dragging the weighted sled backwards. Trying to get about an hour or more per week on my non-run days.

I replaced a lightweight jump rope w/ one that had a counter in the handle. Cheap on amazon… $18. I love it because it tells me how many jumps… it’s a way to gamify your workouts. When I first started, the longest I could jump rope w/out stopping (tripping up) was 1-2 min. I got to 14:30 two weeks ago.

I never knew how much I’d like jump roping. I do it for about 20 - 40 minutes, 2-3 times per week. It has helped my plantar fasciitis that I’ve suffered from for almost 10 years (have prescription orthotics)… jump rope makes your muscles in your feet much stronger.

But just like running, I started to get foot issues (on top of my foot) when I was jumping daily… just too much.
