Maybe Jose can fill us in on what it’s like with a 1 week old.

Officially 11 days old now. And this is truly the most rewarding job in the world. I’m truly in love with this little girl.

Since we finally got her bilirubin to down and don’t have to nurse every 2 hours, we are finally starting to get more rest.

Hit me up with anymore questions! She’s 11 days old now so I’m practically an expert

Additionally what should I do, if anything from a health perspective to keep my energy up once the little one is born. Im naturally pretty active, but I know im going to be sleep deprived pretty soon.

You will be okay. You will be tired but it’s nothing you can’t handle. I was nervous as hell about this. I napped when I can and we take her for walks in her stroller so that helps too. Still haven’t found my way back to the gym yet

Yes. Very long 11 days. I feel like we are getting back into a routine and that’s when I can swing a trip back to the gym.

Get the book "Mom's on call"

It's the Bible and is the biggest piece of advice I would give.

Pay attention to the baby when they are upset. You can start to identify if they are tired or hungry by different cues they give.

Congrats and you're going to do just fine.

Agreed. Me and my wife both read it and it stays on her nightstand now.

Nope. It's a very short read and brings you through stages by age range so you don't even have much to read to start.

Cherish every single moment, you truly have no clue how fast time passes by until you have a child. In the moment, those sleepless nights in the beginning will feel like a lifetime. Looking back on them a year later, it will feel like it went by in the blink of an eye!

No. Now it’s more of a reference book for us. I read it once and I just go back to it from time to time.

But you should probably read it twice

No kidding. My little girl is 7 now. When she was a baby she had bad colic. I would walk around holding her for hours every night while she screamed. I would love to be able to go back and do that again, maybe not every night for a year. You really miss them being babies when it’s over.

It’s not that hard. Just be involved. The hard part is not putting on sympathy weigh when wife gets big in 3rd trimester.

We did Taking Cara Babies and recommend it. We had ours off night time feeds and sleeping 7p-6a at 3mo. Obviously some nights she was fussy, but she does 11 straight hours 14/15 nights now and it's pretty great.

Another vote for moms on call.

I didn’t read any other books. Just a few pages of the moms on call as we progressed through her first few months.

Congrats - being a dad is pretty damn amazing.

Everyone already hit on the points I’d make in this thread. One thing I also did was download the app called 1SE and record a 1 second video of her each day. It’s been so fun to watch. You get to see the little changes.

ETA: congrats jose too
