I work out 3x a week doing high weight low rep exercises. Drink Protein 3x/day on workout days and on rest days. Also drink creatine 3x/daily on workout days and 2x/day on rest days. Along with plenty of water. I eat meals 5x a day with protein.

My problem: It took me 3 months to gain weight; I felt stronger but wasn't noticeably bigger. Pretty sure my weight is water weight.

Anybody have any tips on what I can do. I currently weigh 160. My goal is to reach 180-185lbs, but I would like to be somewhere around 195-200lbs.

Thanks,

Pictures are your friend, if you are stronger I'd bet you've gained more mass than you think.

Dude that's like an insane amount of mass to gain. You could always just get fat

Or keep training and trust the process

Keep your main focus to get stronger, the more you're adding to the bar you have no choice but to grow. I wouldn't change anything drastically to your diet.

Scale that down to 1-2x/day max, there's no reason you can't sub that out for a protein.

It sounds like you're eating 5 small to medium size meals? Maybe change to 2-3 and eat a massive "refeed" meal right after lifting depending on your schedule, you may be able to squeeze a few extra calories in.

What are your macros?

Figure how much carb, fat and protein intake you have. Keep protein from .75 to 1.25 g per lb of desired bodyweight, then increase carbs until you see what you want.

Dial carbs back if you add too much bodyfat.

Simple, follow a proven program that emphasizes progressive overload, eat in a surplus, eat 300g protein a day and sleep 8 hours every night.

How tall are you? That is a lot of mass to put on if you're trying to make it all lean muscle mass. That's like a 2-3 year goal unless you're just a sickly skinny 6'4 dude right now.

Try to get in one more workout a week if you can. If you're doing a classic push/pull/legs split you might be giving your body a little too much down time. Especially with all that creatine.

I'm 6' 2" and 24 yrs old. It seems like I cant even gain fat. Before I worked out and exercised, I didn't pay any mind to what I consume. I can eat Mcdonald's cheeseburgers everyday of the week and not gain a pound. I've always been active and healthy, but my high metabolism prevents me from even gaining the slightest amount of weight. I got up to 170 and got sick for a week and wasn't drinking as much water or eating my meals and in that week I dropped back down to 160

Well as someone who used to have a such a metabolism, frick you

My advice outside of attempting to gain weight is this. Learn good eating habits now. You may have the skinny gene, but skinny-fat is a thing. Also, that metabloism may crash one day. It happened to me, and it was damn near over night. I was fat before I knew it.

If you are looking for muscle mass, check your nutrients, keep plugging away. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Are you doing any cardio? If so, how much?

I was 6'2" 160 my sophomore year in high school. To get to 195, it took 2 years, and I had to eat like it was my job. I was also playing a lot of basketball, so the cardio kept my weight way down.

gonna keep it simple for you

LINK

follow the aesthitics program in the link above. Get strong as shite.Do the hard conditioning twice weekly.

for food- eat 300g of protein a day. Of that you must eat 1.5lbs of beef a day(can be lean groud or steak or whatever) and 12 eggs daily. Eat whatever you want other than that.

Can this be substituted with venison?

sure. but there are a ton of benifits to beef. But any lamb, beef, bison, venison is fine.

That's mainly what I was leading into asking. Why beef over other meats such as chicken and pork?

The reason I mentioned venison is because we hunt and usually have it in the freezer

Oh the horror!

I don’t think you will find many that will feel bad for you. Most of us would love to have your problem.

cows, lamb, goat, all types of deer are all ruminants. They tend to have highest concentration of muscle building nutrients. much more so then non ruminants like fowl and pork.

as far as beef... i dunno it just works. Has a higher concentration of creatine and other muscle building items compared to other animals and realitvely cheap. Venison is a good replacement though.

would love to have that problem now but there was a time in my life where i had his problem. Gaining weight is much harder than losing it when in his situation. It down right hurts force feeding yourself. Losing just fricking sucks but doesn't physically hurt.

Want to change that? Get 10-15 years older.

Set a solid strength training and diet plan in place in the meantime.
