Early birds....what is your morning cardio routine?

I seem to have a hard time getting out of bed some mornings but I have to get better because its the only time I will exercise during the day.

Some I wake up, drink coffee, walk around the house, stretch, etc. before getting on the Peloton.

Some I wake up, stretch and jump on bike. Then shower, coffee, etc.

But I don't really have a routine I like or prefer.

So I guess my main question is...coffee before or after morning workout?

What about protein breakfast afterwards?

Wake up
Check weather (if there is a chance for rain)
Pee
Get dressed for exercise
Eat a quick snack (usually a spoon of good ol’ PB)
Exercise
Stretch
Shower
Make the bed
Get dressed for the day

I usually start with a walk around the neighborhood and it gets the blood flowing, gets my joints loosened up. Every now and then ill carry a couple kettlebells and do a light farmers walk. I'm usually ready to go after about a half mile.

I track everything with my Garmin Fenix. My personal best mile time (in my 40's personal best) came at 5:15 a.m. I remember not wanting to get out of bed, not wanting to put my shoes on, not wanting to run. I did my walk and a couple of jogging intervals then I was tuned up.

My wife and I both wake up at 4:45 to do 5:15 classes at our gym (about 5 minutes from our house). We do spin class, DekaFit/crossfit style HIIT, and pilates.

Anyway, accountability is the key. My wife and I hold each other accountable, and we also have the added pressure of the group classes. You get to know the people who all attend, and you hold each other accountable and encourage each other.

As for actually routine:
Alarm at 4:45. I get up while my wife usually hits snooze one.
I brush teeth.
Put on gym clothes.
Drink a glass of water with half a lemon squeezed into it.
Drink a cup of coffee at kitchen table and usually warm up car while wife is getting ready.
Leave house about 5:08 and then drive to gym for 5:15 class.

Leaving the house is also big for us. I know that a lot of people get demotivated by leaving their house and prefer to work out at home, but it's kind of essential for us for whatever reason. I just don't like working out at home.

Even if I'm only walking for 5 minutes I try to do something every morning. If I do nothing else the rest of the day I still accomplished something, even though it's small. I usually jog or ride my bike for 20 or 30 minutes every morning. If I drink coffee before I also have to poop before. Usually roll out of bed, stretch, then start. My dog makes it hard to skip.

Walks with a plate carrier are my go to. Easy and effective. I’m prepping for a strongman show, so I’m going to be that a lot.

How much do you usually load up? I was thinking about getting a weighted vest for walks...but is that enough weight? Never used one before.

For reference i'm a taller fella at around 195-205

Mine is about 45 pounds. Not too heavy, but heavy enough.
