Joined a gym about 3 months ago. I hardly ever see anyone do any lower body workout. No squats, no leg machines -nada. I see guys in upper body beast mode all the time, just never see them doing lower body.

What gives?

80% of people in gyms are only working out to look good.

Training legs is hard no one want's to do that.

My experience us that most commercial gyms are chock full of people doing relatively ineffective things.

No legs, 1x a week frequency, doing the same weight/rep range every week, month, day forever, etc.

Ours is the other way around. I think we do too much leg work.

Squats suck but they are effective. I personally use the leg extension, leg curls and a few machines that work calves. Usually once/twice a week.

Becasue they just care about curls for the girls. What they don’t realize is that squats and deads make you frick like a bull.

I did brostyle lifting for a while. Since I've focused on powerlifting/strongman style training, I've also gotten better aesthetic development across the board than bro training.

My biceps are better from farmers walks, front curls and rope pulls than they were from 5x the curls.

Damn. I was wondering. I'm 58 years old. I always did legs in the old days. In addition to upper I do heavy (for me) Leg Presses/ Squats a couple of times a week for 3 months now and my legs feel great.

I just was like woah --none of these dudes seem to ever work on their legs and beginning to think I was just an old dumbass that doesn't know the basics in the gym anymore.

Nah. These young dweebs don’t appreciate the feel of a hard leg day. FTR I’m 26.

Legs are a good foundation of actual strength. I look at it like this: your friend needs help moving a couch.

You do squats and deads, you can move the couch easy. You do only chest and bi's...good luck.
