Loss of strength after massage

On top of my powerlifting bench programs I train my grip in a very calculated, structured way tracking progress and all for the last 5 years.
For the first time, I opted to get an extreme pressure deep tissue massage in only the hands, forearms and elbows for 90 minutes. I requested maximum possible pressure.
So I felt an enormous amount of relief, but three days later my grip is weak. For example I can hardly close a gripper that’s 75% of my max/heaviest gripper closed.
Anyone ever experience anything remotely like this? The next two days felt like my hands and forearms had been overtrained.

Damn. Must have been some massage. I wouldn’t stress too much about it. You’re all loose from the massage and probably need to recover from the massage, so to speak.

Yeah just may have to give it time. Maybe it was a reset. Either way I need my strength back like now lol, have a big lift coming up this week

In my experience, a really hard massage like that will have the same effect as an extremely taxing workout affecting the same muscle group. Just treat it like you had a brutal workout and you’re dealing with DOMs now. You’ll be fine in a few days.

Ah that makes sense. Will know tomorrow after first workout!

Because it is like an extreme albeit very different workout. Drink plenty of water before a massage and then if you can go sit in a sauna to sweat out the released toxins from the massage and give your body the needed recovery time. I love full body, deep tissue massages every couple of months but know that I have to treat it, and schedule it like an intense workout.
Cheers.
Cheers.

a deep tissue message is simlar to a workout and takes time to recover from.
