I’m about to turn 59 later this week and I want to spend the next year getting in the best shape possible before I turn 60.
I’m on decent shape, I work out and about 20 lbs overweight ( but it’s coming down).
I was hoping someone might point me in the right direction so I can really amp it up.
Don’t have the money for hiring a trainer or spending on an expensive workout plan.
Would really appreciate some ideas.
Thanks

look at the greyskull thread and run the LP 2-3 days per week with conditioning at the end that doesnt beat you up for about 10-12 min total.

get your diet straight, making sure you are hitting calorie and protein targets and then walk 10k steps per day.

not that difficult and not different at 50 than at 29 other than got to be careful to stay healthy to continue to lift.

Right on brother. Look up Izzy Mandelbaum. Dude uses old school Methods but knows his shite.

For mindset to convince yourself you're doing the right thing, read the Barbell Prescription.

Creatine.

Get jacked.

100% agree. Remember that you’ll heal slower than that 29 year old if you hurt yourself, so practice good form and avoid ego lifts.

Get your MEDS in order (mindfulness, exercise, diet, and sleep)

If you aren’t meeting the ACSM guidelines for physical start there. This includes cardio and resistance training
