Has anyone read his book or applied what he was written? He is getting a ton of positive reviews. And if anyone had a digital copy they could share that would be awesome. I hate ask, but I don’t want to spend $60 on a book.

Yep. It's phenomenal. It's worth every penny.

Layne Norton is a lunatic hack w a PE degree. I wouldn't buy anything from him, much less anything related to nutrition.

A hack?
. Everything he and Peter Baker claim in the book is backed by study citations. The first chapter alone haa 40+ citations.
The man is no doubt an a-hole on the internet but he knows his shite when it comes to my lifting and nutrition. If it makes you feel better, there's a large chapter about keto written by Dom D'agostino in the book.

I follow Layne on Twitter, and he is not a scientist and a chapter by Dom is fine. Whatever. And i don't reject everything Layne says just because he's a hack. I just wouldn't buy his book, even if it had 1000 pages of selective citations.
He is a low-T vag.

sounds like a ketozealot
Haha, sounds like a Coach Layne acolyte. I just can't respect someone w a pseudo phd who goes on Twitter and yells at people to promote his persona. I'll stick to real scientists.
And I'm far from a "keto zealot." beta-hydroxybutyrate is a ketone. And organic compound. A source of fuel that does a lot of cool shite in our bodies (nlrp3 inh, Direct-to-mitochondria metab, etc). I eat and train in such a way as to utilize that fuel source along with other fuel sources, be they exogenous glucose, indigenous glucose through gluconeogenesis, etc.
No need to be a dogmatic zealot. Just explore the ways our bodies can optimally utilize the dual fuel system, based on our goals, habits, culture, families, and predispositions.
Or just yell at people on Twitter to sell books. Who's the zealot?

Why do you think his PhD is "psuedo"
His thesis was on leucine being a critical amino acid in starting MPS. This was pretty revolutionary stuff back then.
It's true he doesn't participate in scientific research anymore, but he does contribute and the scientific world always needs voices to push the data out.
Layne is loud and obnoxious in the internet partly just because that's who he is, and also because he wants his voice to be louder than all of the truly unscientific BS that plagues social media. shite like the Beyonce diet, skinny teas, and detoxes.
Layne's said many times he has nothing against the keto diet, he just dislikes a lot of the zealotry that tends to come with it.

No, he knows what he’s talking about. What are your degrees in?

Yep his main problem is with those claiming that the keto diet or juicing diet or whatever diet can cure cancer and other disease.
His problem is with the anti scientific community. I actually respect him for being loud and calling this shite out. It's a huge problem.

But they can. There are studies on keto diets stunting growth of glioblastomas and helping with epilepsy. His main gripe is that keto and juicing are the ONLY way or the BEST way to lose weight. He believes they aren't sustainable to a normal person and I agree.

I like his attitude, honestly. There is so much crap information out there. A lot if it is actually harmful. Yet people push it for instagram likes. The only people he “attacks” are the ones pushing harmful ideals.

And he'll admit as much, and it has been shown to help those with epilepsy, as well as anything else that shows promise with keto.

Agree.
Most people will not stick with it for life, and once they get off they'll likely go back to eating garbage.

He erects strawmen re "the keto diet," and then accuses everyone else of being a zealot, while he promotes himself as a zealot.
Hey to each his own. I'll stick to lesa douchey health advocates.
I do agree with him calling out BS, btw. The way he does it is just vexatious. More humor and self-deprecating demeanor would go a long way.
He also often conflates quackery with true ground breaking science. E.g., real fasting research v. "detox" nonsense.
And, if you define the "keto diet" as some monolithic BS from a blog and then rail on it then yeah you can look like a real tough thorough critic to the untrained eye.
But if you dive into the science behind ketone metabolism and how to utilize it (and how to use carbs as a tool) then Layne's own self-zealotry is betrayed.
I ain't got time for that nonsense.
Why not stick to real scientists and compilers who aren't fricksticks?

This is circular reasoning. And again if you define a "diet" in such a way as to make it inherently unsustainable and then shoot it down as unsustainable then what have you done? Straw. Man.

He will admit that, but you don't not take chemo and do keto thinking it's going to cure your cancer. That's how you end up like Steve jobs. That is what he is fighting against

He does go after guys with big followings on Twitter and Instagram and post stupid shite like follow my cleanse to cure your cancer etc
