What are your goals? You don't technically need to do any cardio to lose weight or gain muscle.

idk. Im 5'7, 230 pounds. I want to look normal and wear clothes. sick of moobs and big arse belly. Im too short to be this fat. Lifting weights is harder for me. This class is good, bc i just cant leave 15 min in. They also have milfs in yoga pants doing it. I like playing soccer and football. I want to try ufc or krav maga

I need to change my diet tho, but my exercise and diet hit a pause when i started working 2 jobs.

So you want to lose weight, fair enough.

It's all diet. Think of it this way.. Diet fixes your weight, exercise helps get you in better shape. You can't out-run (or out-spin in this case) a bad diet.

You don't necessarily need to eat super "clean" to lose weight, either. Download MyFitnessPal and log everything you eat, good or bad. Eat in a caloric deficit and get some exercise in, and you will drop weight.

Diet is far more important than exercise. At that level of overweight I would actually drop the exercising and focus on getting your diet in order first. Learn to eat good foods most of the time and eat only until satisfied. Get that down and then slowly incorporate exercise.

The worst thing you can do is go to a spin class and then view that energy you burned as something that you can reward yourself with by eating worse. Cart before the horse. Focus on one aspect at a time to increase your chances of sticking to it.

im 5'7 155.. at 180 i feel realy big. Not sure how u carry your weight though. I would stick to green veggies, and lean meats. Eat 1800cals a day and lift weights. It will fall off man

It’s good enough if you change your diet.

Working out alone isn’t good enough to meet your goals though.

The physique you want will dictate your exercise plan. To lose weight, diet is EVERYTHING. It took me a long time to accept it, but don’t make my mistake and get on a diet plan. Don’t do one of thise trendy 4 week diets and go back to the way you were. Change your mentality about food. Food is fuel. Do not eat for pleasure. Eat for results. Eat to survive, not for fun. Get into that mentality, and it will help you stay focuse mentally. And you will be surprised how much you can eat and be in a caloric deficit. I had trouble getting in all the damn protein at first. Downloading MFP will help tremendously. There are also tons of diet plans to help you reach your goals. I would love to give you in depth knowledge, but I’m not an expert. I leave that to them.

Yea my trainer in Miami used to say "eat for life, not for love" and I do that probably 90% of the time now. I just happen to really like a lot of food people don't enjoy. I love me some broccoli for example and I'd rather have pork tenderloin over pulled pork. I just like it more

Meh. Store prepared foods are probably high in calories. You’d be better off buying a tray of chicken and baking that shite with salt, pepper, a lil cayenne and a pinch of garlic powder.

Are you in college? You in a dorm or have an apartment?

ETA: Dorm life is tough, but if you have your own place, meal prep. Makes life easier.

I was thinking of switching to greek chicken salad, then go to winn dixie ( baked chicken and cheese broccoli). only vegetable they have. I also do the burrito bowl with no rice or cream at chipotle

Glad everyone is saying diet, thats the key. As for workout, a good spin class 3x week is solid. Can you add in other exercise such as 30 mins of run/walk interval 2-3 times a week?

I would also strongly recommend 2 days a week of a lifting workout based on one of the templates that are discussed on this site such as 531 or greyskull.

To summarize, get your diet right, keep doing what you are doing if you like spin, and experiment with several other additional workout plans till you find one you actually enjoy.
