I’m in the same boat. Was a 51-54 second quarter guy in HS.

35 now and I went balls to the walls on a quarter last year and came in around 1:10. I’m in great running shape but that doesn’t translate to a 17 year old sprinter’s body.

I’d do better at cross country now than I could back then.

A fast mile is not a real workout. Longer times per mile and more miles is.

Wut??? It's most definitely a point of data to show fitness level. It's certainly not the only point to be used, even when just concentrating on running. But it's a very valuable metric.

it's like doing a 1 rep max. just shows where you're at.

i keep up with my 1 mile, 5k, 10k and half marathon times regularly and try to top them.

I was sub-6 in HS. Now if I really push it for 1 mile around 7 minutes. My normal running pace is around 8 though.

Just around the local neighborhoods. Every now and then some of us hit up that nice track in Salado.

I run in West Temple and out at Miller Springs near the lake a lot.

They’ve made 2305 a great trail now.

In shape: sub 5 minutes. PR is 4:44.

Right now after doing a “bulk” this winter I’m still sub 5:30

Ready for the weather to get nice to get back out on the track

Gotcha. I was going to be pissed if we were in the same neighborhood.

We should try that beer sometime.

Or the opposite. A run.

I can only run like 12 minute miles because for some reason, my heartrate is anywhere from 203-217 during runs. I can run a 1/4 mile or 6 miles....All with over 200 bpm....It sucks.

Not a runner but if I went balls to the wall, about 7:30. No way in hell I could go any faster.
