A family member will be going through chemotherapy and radiation for an aggressive form of breast cancer. Sorry no more details than that except for the drugs she will take.

I’m probably not making much sense since she told us she’s starting chemo this Wednesday.

But

1. what are the home remedies for comfort? Or the remedies for soothing g side effects.

2. What are the home remedies for miracle remission? (Like wim hoff cold/breathing and other dietary stuff). Fasting, sauna etc.

Any advice or any other threads are appreciated.

The best advice I have is that I heard cancer love sugar. I'm not sure if that means all carbohydrates or what.

Jay Kordich claimed juicing fruits and vegetables could eliminate or combat some forms of cancers.

I certainly hope you mean in addition to chemo and radiation. If not..

Chemo and radiation.

Edit: Didn't mean to sound snarky or assholish. If it did come across that way, I do apologize. Not my intention.

For comfort and easing chemo symptoms...

Depending on what state you are in... Marijuana.

If she will be on chemo she will likely have waves of nausea you should look into the Relief Band

There’s always zofran to take as needed, but this is a wearable.

Side note, I met one of the guys who invented this on a hunting trip. He’s an OB and wanted something to help with the morning sickness for his patients.

I've always thought that if I were diagnosed with cancer, I'd try doing long water fasts before starting chemo. When breaking my fast, sticking to only whole foods and eating a lot of protein and fats (which honestly, is what I do now anyway).

The body is pretty remarkable at healing itself when it's not being poisoned.

Just thoughts though. Prayers to your family.

Second this. Helped my Mom with some nausea when she was doing chemo and radiation.

For OP, her sense of taste may likely change with chemo so foods she likes now she may not tolerate later. Even on the days she doesn't "feel" like eating/drinking, try to encourage calorically, nutrition dense shakes or smoothies. Ginger is good for nausea as well.

John Hopkin's link regarding smoothies during chemo

Meeting with an oncology dietician can be a great resource for this.

My mom was at MD Anderson and went down this rabbit hole. I started following oncologists online and listening to podcasts and even wrote back and forth with them. All of them said they aren't sure where that rumor started but there is no evidence to show that. They actually told her to eat more to keep her calories up during chemo because that's more important for her overall energy.

The head oncologist at MD Anderson is one of the best doctors in the world and I flat out asked him in person, and he said he gets that question more than any other because of so much misinformation online. He said that rumor started because of all the articles saying high sugar diets cause obesity and obesity is the number 1 factor for numerous cancers. Obesity is bad for everything.

Here's what one of them sent me during our back-and-forth email correspondence.

There has been no evidence to support this claim or else we would tell every patient to not eat carbs to shrink their cancer. Cancer cells do utilize glucose for energy, but so do all other cells in the body. The idea that sugar "feeds" cancer cells is an oversimplification. While cancer cells may metabolize glucose at a faster rate, this doesn't mean that limiting sugar intake will prevent or cure cancer.

Dr. Jack Losso from LSU found that oyster lipids kill breast cancer cells in vitro.

Couldn't hurt to consume more oysters.

From a mainstream medicine standpoint other than the standard treatments from a reputable cancer center...Get as close to a keto diet as possible, and if this person consumes alcohol, drop that. Push the exercise as much as possible to help get past the extreme fatigue that is likely to come from chemo and/or XRT (seems paradoxical, but hard evidence suggests it works).
