Help Training Son (only has one eye)

I don’t know where to ask for advice or help, but long story short I have a 13 year old son who lost an eye during a camping trip with the Scouts last year.
He tried out for junior high football and well he was cut today, and I know he took it very hard because he has been struggling with depth perception and peripheral vision
I believe he loves the sport and wants to continue it, but this is just a hard pill to swallow
We live on the north shore and would like to know if there are any camps or coaches that might be able to help him

I lost vision in one eye at an early age, no depth perception since. Never affected me in basketball or football but catching a deep pass would be difficult. Baseball was a no go for me. Hutch Gonzales works with kids in Franklinton and I highly recommend him.

I know Hutch, he is really good with training the kids.
My son will end up being more of a lineman I figure but maybe he can help with that

He can definitely help with strength and athleticism. Vision should not be a problem for a lineman. Also, don’t know what school or how attached your son is, but I’ve known dozens of kids to transfer to smaller(usually private) schools just for the chance to play sports that have really flourished. There are many small schools that don’t ’cut’ any kids.

He is one of the larger junior highs in St Tammany, and I think he will get better but I was just looking for folks close by that maybe I could send him too to work on the things you mentioned
He is not even a year removed from this injury so I think he need help with know how to compensate for the periphery

I don’t know how to privately send you my contact info, but I’d like to talk to you about his injury and some of my experiences dealing with it

Scouts
First get the kid out of scouts for christ sakes it is a breeding ground for homosexuals and homosexuality.
Use the one eye thing as a motivator. This is your Marv Marinovich, Joseph Jackson, Cus D'Amato, Earl Woods, Floyd Mayweather Sr., etc. moment to be a creator and innovator of one of the most destructive forces ever seen on a Middle School or High School football field.
First, you need to teach him how to fight and defend that eye because inevitably he is going to have to that it is just reality. Second start feeding this kid grass fed beef, steaks, eggs, bacon, eggs, some chicken and have hm using creatine, a clean whey isolate protein (three shakes a day) morning - afternoon - night time before bed. Get him in a weight room asap. doing the basic movements at first nothing fancy incline bench, squats, power cleans, and deadlift etc. I'd also get a heavy bag to hang in the garage or basement along with some bag gloves and have him beat the shite out of it working on simple combinations at first make him do 3 or 4 rounds on the bag and make sure he is using intensity and getting leverage from his waist, hips, and legs into the punches. This will teach him discipline. I also would look for a coach specifically focused on the Offensive or Defensive line as even with one eye he can excel there. You have a great opportunity here to mold this kid into a beast. Use it. Don't be scared to be a taskmaster, Don't be scared to push him. Do not be scared to intimidate him when needed. This all can and will pay huge dividends in the future if you do this correctly.

He is out of scouts now, thing only he is doing through them is Sailing which is a great skill to learn and I know the guy who runs the program he is ex army and runs the program as such.
He's been in JuJitsu for the last few year, before his injury. He is now learning to do that with his new normal.
He started going to the gym with me in the morning, and plans to go tomorrow. We are working him through weight training. They also have a heavy bag in there, which he has asked about, might throw that at him too.
Thanks

Coach Tracy in Mandeville off Hwy 59 / north of 12.
Good coach. But not for everyone. Has edginess that will cure Gen Z, but soft parents don’t like him.

I second the idea of hutch, great guy and can help your kid even as a lineman.
