Is it bad to alternate between these two types of workouts on a week-to-week basis? I'm wanting to lift heavy on M-W-F and then due some HIIT workouts on T-Th, but not sure if it's a bad idea.

This was like a staple of a strength/speed training program. Not a bad idea in the least bit, so long as you can handle it.

the best shape I had ever been been in was a workout / diet program that incorporated heavy lifting with hiit

It was a 3mo deal
1-heavy lifting / strength
2- heavy w/ some super sets
3- heavy sets then circuit training
Incorporated HIIt cardio at end of workout increasing as it went through the months

I went from about 235 to 205/210 and didn't lose any strength

Not at all. Can see some great results combining the two.

I lift heavy at lunch and then do some type of interval training for cardio in the evening (bike, row, run). Dk if it's the best but it works well for me.

I did this a few years ago with great results. I was doing 5x5 3 days a week, added two days of HIIT and some light running in on other days. It was typically 5x5 workout A on Monday. 45 minute HIIT on Tuesday. Workout B on Wednesday. 30-40 minute run on Thursday. Workout A on Friday. 45 minute HIIT on Saturday. Rest on Sunday. Then just switch A/B the next week. Some days I would go for a quick jog after the weights, like 15-20 minutes, but not all the time.

I'm thinking of incorporating some HIIT in the mornings because I go to the gym at night. I could use one of my old BeachBody discs for the HIIT and just do it at home.

I hate HIIT. I really do. I did P90X's 1,2, and 3 and T-25 a long time ago so I'll just pick one of those discs each morning and suffer.

I'm doing it right now and I've lost about 10 lbs and my strength went way up. I sprint between sets for 1:30 some days and jump rope on others

T-25 is nothing! Look into asylum if you wanna blast your arse. Best HIIT workouts I've done and it NEVER gets easier lol. It's a love hate thing but most of the workouts are 45 minutes or less with warmup and stretch. The first half of the plyo one is a nightmare but it's one of the shortest so you just gotta power through.
