W3D1 - I real liked today. Felt like I moved a lot of weight and ended with a great chest pump. The cannonball delts and dips at the end had me swole.

W3D2 done

Yesterday I told myself I'd skip today to rest. Couldn't convince myself to skip. Went in and got it done. Pretty decent day. Think the snatch deads were my favorite. I like the lower starting position.

W3D1 done yesterday afternoon. The chest and shoulder pump was GREAT!

W3D2 done this morning. Deadlifts felt good. Tested the grip with the pullup/snatch DL superset.

Going to hit w3d1 in a bit; I plan on adding weight on the dips for the first sets. I got 20 on the bw dips AMRAP from Pool Season 1 so I should be able to dangle some weight for sets of 10.

taking it very slow as my upper back and neck have been real stiff and had chiro yesterday so only did bench portion of W2D1.

i will take it slow this week and will just start week 3 next week. then get back on track for june with the program party.

I'm really liking week 3. I don't know if it's just me but it feels different. Lotta weight moved again today for W3D2. I may have had the biggest bicep pump I've ever had by the end of those hammer curls.

I probably would have done an extra set or two on the arms superset, but my son came in the garage wanting to hit some baseballs. He needs to get his hands above the ball to create a better bat angle to get some lift.

Just glancing at the program from the pictures he's posted on the site and Instagram but haven't purchased. I've done weights all my life but it's been a while with kids since I've been able to do a legit program, how do you figure the percentages that he's saying to do for the lifts?

And this is just a PDF document, not an app?

Correct, it's just a PDF. Find your 1 RM and base your training max at 90-95% of that.

They’re all pdf files.

You probably would be better starting with Pool season 1 and then do PS2. PS2 is a notch up in volume and the workouts are typically longer.

There are a ton of workouts it looks like, would your recommendation be to go with Pool Season 1 over all of the others?

I was told to start out with Young grasshopper by others on this board. I then did PS1 and now PS2.

I rally liked Grasshopper, just starting the three days a week we’re good. It goes to 4 days a week in month two.

If I'd prefer to start at 4 days should I just skip to PS1?

Also are these programs considerably better than just doing a Stronglifts 5X5 type program with some added secondary lifts?

I'd wait for lsu777 to respond. I've only been lifting a few months and only with the PPSA plans. I've enjoyed them a lot.

Here's a link to the thread where we were voting to see what plan we wanted to run as a group in April.

W3D1: warmed up legs with db Bulgarians and squatted 255x12 instead of 6 for the top set. That’s again a PR. Benching heavy felt good. I did dips with 25lbs on belt and they weren’t too bad. Hit some cable pushdowns as a finisher.

Deadlifts and the arms superset look tough tomorrow. So I ate a bunch of brisket for supper :)

I didn’t do the arms as a superset. I was 50/50 if he meant it to be or not.

Oh I don’t think it is now that you mention it.

If you are older with kids this ppsa will be better than something like strong lifts, kids are stressors and strong lifts would be hard to recovery from

Start with grasshopper is usually what I recommend but if you really want to go 4 days do grasshopper and just repeat the last 4 weeks twice, then pool season

But I do think you are better off running grasshopper as written then ps1

W3D2 done, I liked the heavy Deadlifts.

I did the shrugs and 21’s as a SS. Just realized we hadn’t done 21’s in a few weeks. The hammers had me pumped

Also just finished w3d2. Deadlifts are getting real now; 345 heavy single means I am gonna have to invest in more iron soon if I ever want to max out.

Back seems to handle the deadlifts no problem but I did sub in sets of 10-15 chest supported db rows for the 1arms.

I used my cable pulley tower for the hammers (with a rope) and did drop sets on them (70 lbs loaded for 10, 60 lbs loaded for 10, 50lbs loaded for 10) and my biceps were so thick and succulent afterwards.
