90% of the people I see doing this machine have the seat all the way down and are basically doing neck crunches. I do not understand it. There's even a little picture on the machine telling you how to do it correctly

Not a machine but I will say 99% of people don't do the side plank or sphinx plank correctly.

What if I curl more than they squat? What if I do a silly movement like a reverse curl to an overhead squat?

Stomach down, close enough to the back where you can drive your feet into the back of it. Down slowly. Repeat.

You should feel your hamstrings working to pull you up and back. Finish with knees on padding.

I rarely see girls in a good front squat position. My wrists would break if I did it like they do.

Those incline chest and shoulder press machines. They load them up with 3 plates on each side and lift it 2 inches ROM and then grunt to let everyone know they got it.

its not that they are a bad exercise. But they are very hard on the shoulders and if you can't do the exercise strict for 10-12 reps you have no business doing the exercise for metabolic conditioning.

There's an older dude at my gym that will camp out on the hammer strength bench and incline for literally 30-45 minutes each. He will load up 4 plates on each side and move them maybe 1 inch once or twice.

I've seen an older guy at my gym take one of those shorter bars that have the curves in them so they're ideal for curling. He'd load them up and begin his "curl" by holding it up against his chest (as in, where it should be after you do a curl) and barely move it (about an inch) closer to his chest and back.

And he was standing up and moving his back back and forth as he was doing it. It was the saddest curl I've ever seen in my life.

no i agree 100%. i'm not knocking crossfit because there are some obvious badasses in there that can to 10x anything i could ever hope to, but it's spawned a bunch of morons doing their own thing in a gym.

You'd love seeing me use it. I stand on a 45lb plate and jump/boost myself up and over

If I don't, I'd never finish a wod including pullups.

I chuckle at people that do this, but I am sure it is a valid new fad exercise that cannot be done on any other equipment.

There was a high school aged kid sitting up the step doing tricep push downs on the weighted step part. I was thoroughly confused.

i 100% have used the assist machine for random stretches.

i always do some dips or pullups as well to make myself look less tarded.
