Out of town for Christmas and the closest gym was an LA Fitness which offers free guest passes. It did not disappoint.

I was watching a not so big guy doing weird upside down pull-up gymnastics on a cable machine. (I thought that shite was just in those gym fail videos). He takes his break on top of the tower. No one else can use it and 3 people ask him to get down to which he replies he has 4 sets left.

Last guy calls him an a-hole and they eventually start shouting profanities at each other. The guy doing the weird shite gets down from the top of the machine and is wearing a “Ranger” shirt. He starts telling the guy he better be aware of who he is talking to and how much training he has. Tells him to step forward and keeps saying he will beat his arse. Other guy appears to be a regular and says he isn’t going to fight in his gym, then asks him to step outside. Mind you this guy has 85 lbs and is in much better shape than the “Ranger”.

Ranger then starts yelling “now that is assault brother” and refuses to go outside. More profanities ensue and the regular walks away. Ranger later asks a gym worker to walk him out.??????. I almost lost it when I saw him getting an escort out the building.

Anyone that flaunts military status in public are usually frauds who never served a day in the armed forces.

One of the best days of my lifting life was leaving LA Fitness for my garage gym.

That almost makes me want to join a gym again.

The La fitness I go to in Austin is nice and drama free. Probably has more to do with the surrounding area than the gym.

I was shocked. I’ve never seen a legit confrontation at a gym before. I’ve also never seen someone using equipment like a jungle gym except in Instagram videos.

I am going back tomorrow. I am praying that they are both there though I don’t think the Ranger guy is looking to really tango and it would happen.

Gym fight videos are a fairly entertaining section of YouTube.

One good one from Planet Fitness.

there’s no way that a guy who has a moderate amount of real combatives training would consider himself “highly skilled and trained” and would go around talking shite in a gym. I mean if it was a gunfight I certainly wouldn’t want to go against anyone in the special ops community, but we have guys with Army combatives backgrounds drop into my BJJ gym occasionally and they all get absolutely shite on by anyone who’s been training for 6+ months.
