Personally I think if you're going to use rings you might as well master the RTO position (rings turned out). Strengthens the chest and elbows.

I jacked up my shoulder on rings this past Wednesday. Going to take a little time off but I hope I can get back to it soon.

A month into them. Damn. Flies have increase my chest strength and endurance. Doing rear delta on them as well. Can tell difference. Started doing a stay in place with arms locked out. Up to 15 seconds now and it's a very rough 15 seconds.

Shoulders today for me. Been battling an injury so I'm going to see how I do on the ring handstands today.

I went and bought a set of rings and tried them today. All I can say is wow. I figured they would be a good way to work my upper back and do dips. Well, I couldn’t do ONE SINGLE dip. I can do dips on bars but they are difficult for me. So I tried ring pushups. It felt like I had never done pushups before. I can bench my body weight for 10 reps, but this is a different challenge. I’ll be doing ring pushups at a slight incline for the beginning.

I work out with my ring. Actually I never take it off. Don't wanna look single and send the ladies the wrong signal

ETA: That was a very "OT" post and I'm sorry

Love doing chest flyes and archer pushups.

Get comfortable holding up your bodyweight in the neutral position.

Then, see if you can do rings turned out (RTO). You probably won't.

Takes time but you will become really strong.

Yep rings are awesome. Especially once you master the rto position and can do inverts.

For those that like training with rings, get a large 2" climbing rope after you can do ring rows and pullups pretty good. Doing pullups, rows and eventually static holds on top of rope climbing is one of the best builders of biceps period. It's a core staple of gymnastics strength Training for bent arm strength.

Wish I had climbing rope. My gym has the one where your feet don't leave the ground.

I love doing pelican curls.

Rings turned out. It's the resting position on the rings basically.

See that video lsu777 posted.

You should be doing that on every rep on any move where you're above the rings. Even your L-Sit should be RTO.

Getting more comfortable with them already. I can hold rto for 10 seconds compared to about 3 seconds the first day I tried it. Working on that, ring rows, ring pushups and some tuck/L sits. I’m not doing good with the L sits at all. I can’t bring my legs near 90 degrees yet.

You'll get there. Your legs and hip flexors aren't strong enough yet.

It's great stuff.

I put down the barbell for everything but deadlifts and squats. All upper body work will be rings for a while now. I have recorded where my bench and my press were and I’ll recheck where they are after I feel I’ve made good progress with the rings.
