Doctor that told me two years ago I was diabetic, asked me if I'm diabetic

I have a work physical every year. Two years ago, the plant doctor told me I was diabetic with A1C's at 6.9 & 130 glucose with fasting, and I need to go see my primary as soon as possible to get on A1C meds.
I go see my primary and he told me I'm not diabetic, I am like half of south Louisiana, with a bad diet, it's just that I know where I stood with a risk of diabetes. He told me to watch my diet, nothing strict, just cut some sugars, exercise, etc.
At my physical last year, my A1C's were down to 5.6 & 115 glucose. He asked me what meds my doctor had me on and couldn't believe he didn't put me on anything.
My physical last week, my A1C's were 4.9 & 105 glucose. The plant doctor actually asks me if I was really diabetic. I told him my primary didn't believe it and didn't want to put me on diabetic meds.
I know I'm at risk, been my whole life pretty much, but this just goes to show you how some doctors are too quick to put people on unnessary medications.

Type 2 can be cured with diet and exercise.
However, a large portion of Type 2s don’t want to change their lifestyle.
Good job on being one of the few.

Some docs say everyone over 50 should be on a low dose of Metformin regardless of their blood sugar. Several benefits and essentially zero side effects.

Oh except the metformin shits and bubble guts lol

Just think of it as enhanced regularity.

That is totally absurd.

Congrats on reversing out of your condition with diet! What this anecdote mainly says to me is that the level of confusion/misinformation among those who supposedly should know better is extremely high. This is what 50 years of propaganda has done to our society.
One quibble: I would ask to have your fasting insulin measured as well. That fasting glucose numbers is close to irrelevant.

That doctor probably has financial ties to Metformin.

Both of your docs weren’t entirely correct. you were diabetic with an a1c of 6.9 and fasting glucose of 130. The initial treatment however is lifestyle modification and not medication. Congrats on curing your diabetes, really impressive to see what changing your lifestyle can do.
What changes did you make?

A little better diet, cut out sugars. I never have drank cokes, or other sugar drinks, so that was not the problem. I basically read the label, looking for lower sugar content.
I exercise more. I'm not a gym rat, just eliptical 3x a week for 30 mins each, and some basic strength training.
One of the biggest is I changed jobs. I went from a board operator (plant baw) to an outside operator. Sitting for 12 hours is not good for you.
