So when going to Debgru selection over of the test you must take is called the "legacy test".

The test consists of:
• Pullup with 40lb of added weight
• Bench Press bodyweight for max reps
• Five mile run

The events are completed back to back, with a ten-minute rest prior to beginning of the run, and the standards for passing are:
• Minimum of 10 pullups
• Minimum of 10 reps of the bench press
• Maximum time of 37:30 on the run

Greyskull standards are
Bench-15 reps
Pullups-15 reps
Run time is the same

So this n is an amazing overall test of fitness. Most won't be able to come close at first, but with training on the individual elements one should be able to start progressing towards getting close.

What can you do?

DevGru are some bad mother frickers. Life takers and heart breakers.

I can’t run five miles (working on it currently). I can probably bench my body weight 10 time, but I would struggle with pullups (also working on it). And I’m doing greyskull to get there.

Yea to do this you better be a bad mother fricker.

I think a better challenge for a normal person would be to keep the bench and pullups there at ten not 15 and do the two mile run in under 14.

Gonna strive for that first lol. I can't even run a half mile at that place right now though

I dont think its gonna be easy at all. But im definitely the type of person who responds better to having a challenging goal to shoot for. I love to run, so getting my running time down was already a goal. DOnt know if ill get my time down that low. Im down about 30lbs so far since the first of the year, doing your aesthetics GSLP. So this type of goal just gives me more motivation to be disciplined.

Just gives me a hard to reach goal to shoot for.

Just getting the minimum won’t get you anywhere in any military selection course.

It’s cute the greyskull is just barely over the DEVGRU minimum

I can do the first 2 fairly easily. The run would be my most difficult challenge. I think the last time I ran 5 miles for time it was around 39 minutes or so.

The greyskull test is 50% more on the lifts. That's a significant amount.

But remember it's a challenge to see where you stand fitness wise. Just like all the other challenges. And let's be honest, I was in just like you, 99% of the people I served with couldn't come close to this. There aren't many DevGru selection people coming out of greyskull and if they are it's before they even join at all, so I would say being able to complete the minimum of DevGru before joining is pretty damn good.

Btw if you can complete the legacy test to the greyskull standards you are gonna be in bad arse shape.

Can you do this?

That’s pretty beastly, and I couldn’t even come close to that now. 9 - 10 years ago training for Ranger school, I could definitely hit that 5 mile mark (probably could still hit that now with a month of training), probably wouldn’t have had any issue with the bench, but that sort of pull up test would’ve killed me. Was always and still is my weakest military fitness exercise.

I don’t know all that much about DEVGRU, but if they’re anything like CAG, the real fitness killers (and eliminators) are the endurance rucks. I’d assume DEVGRU probably has some insane swimming tests that just destroy you in place of rucking.

I had a good friend and mentor who went through CAG selection. He made it all the way through and wasn’t selected. It was interesting to me how much boils down to how you think / problem solve and how much the guys in the current organization like you and want you in.

The fitness of the guys at the very top of the food chain in the military was always very impressive to me. I once saw good friend of mine who served in Ranger Regiment and then in another OGA repeatedly Donkey Kong climb 40 foot walls at Benning. Another close friend who served as an officer in Regiment was the fittest guy I’ve ever known in any capacity. Never drank, no tobacco, ate the cleanest you could imagine, would wake up at 6 AM to ruck on Saturday mornings, could clear 400 on PT tests, etc. Amazing specimens.

The minimums for bench and pull ups yea probably

As I do a ton of body weight high rep bench press in my metcons and do tons of pull ups in my plate carrier.

The run not a chance, I’m slow as frick now and would struggle with a 40 min five mile( I used to run a 35 min with ease)

If I was entering any selection course I’d want to be at least 30% over the minimum #

When I was in tacp school the guys who barely hit the minimum #s didn’t last the selection and if they actually did make it through failed the first part of actual training due to not meeting pt standards.

Could make the pullups and bench no problem. I would not currently make the run time.

Are those real pull-ups from a dead hang

Also I think I could pass it fairly easily but I'm in my early 20's and in very good shape

Those are way beyond my reach right now

Once I get my weight down sufficiently I'll try to tackle the first 2

None of that matters if you can’t communicate and not be a team player

Nonetheless impressive standards

I could have met all three of those back in 2012

Now, hell no

You’re exactly right. The minimums don’t truly tell the tale of what it takes to get selected.

You need to be significantly above them in order to make it. The guys in ST6 are probably crushing those numbers
