I'm really feeling the added volume of the lighter three sets after the heavy working set

Backdown sets are a great way to add extra volume even on days you're feeling the fatigue more than normal. During my peaking blocks, I'll work up to a heavy single around 90-95% of my 1RM then do 3-4 backdown sets around 75-80%.

Spinal erectors are tired from DL day yesterday. I'm worried I'm using my back too much somehow, but maybe it's just more volume than I'm used to. I'm being careful about my setup, flexing lats and core hard, then my cue is to push a hole through the floor.

ETA: tired/fatigued, but not hurting.

I’ve still been consistent. Day 7 of House of the Rising Buns.

Everything has a superset. Sometimes I’ll have to move them around due to not enough weights to bench and deadlift in a SS.

Squats 4x10 @ 220
Strict pull ups 4x3

Bench press 4x5 @ 220
Rear delt raises 4x20

DB shoulder press 4x10 @ 50
Deadlifts 4x5 @ 300

BB curls 4x5 @ 75
Band push downs 4x 20

3 sets of 20 walking lunges with 20lb dumbbells

We like it. The Monday/Thursday program takes longer than the Tuesday/Friday. So she’ll have to cut out something to make it work being she goes back to work next week.

I like all the accessory movements that I don’t typically do. That’s my only complaint about the PPSA workouts. Not a ton of variation. Always flat bench, regular squats. Deadlifts will have some variety.

Lunch break

Snatch 5x5 65,75,85,95,105
Front squat 5x5 85,95,105,115,125
Straight bar curls 5x5 45,55,65,65,65

First day doing snatches and didn't fall on my arse or drop the bar on my face. Pretty proud of myself.

I posted this in the "put your fark down" thread, but I squatted 315lbs for two reps today. First time doing a lift of 300+ pounds. I was pumped! Coming for that 1000lb club!

Congrats.

I was going to ask you in the other thread, but I'll ask here. Your squat and DL are almost the same. I'm a new lifter, so that may influence this, but my DL is 1.5x BW and squat is 1X bodyweight. Which is more normal?

I'd say squats are harder increase than deadlifts are, at least for me, anyway. That's about as close to answering your question as I can get.

I could always deadlift more than I could squat

In the past I felt like DL was easier to increase. But I have a bad back and my DL and Squat are pretty much the same right now.

today's workout was another blah day. Probably dye to diet and being down 8 lbs since the 1st. Plus hadn't eaten yet today.

Bench:
-WU
-3x5+(7) @ 162.5 lbs

Pull Ups:
3x5 (subbed negatives if couldn't do 5): 4/1, 3/2, 2/3

Squat:
-WU
-3x5+(5) @ 275 lbs

if you have the DB strength program he does a good job of doing a bunch of variety in that, especially with lower body.

might be one yall want to look at doing after.

and if you have done ppsa for a while, dont be afraid to sub a lift of the same pattern for the same one.

for example....ssb or front squat for normal back squat

incline press or neutral grip bench for normal bench press etc

you can even sub normal press in lieu of bench in the benching programs if you press is the focus instead of bench.

im going to try and organize program parties starting with squatober. George has squatober held down well, but we can do a bench program or the brovemeber program he posted on his insta from 2017, deadcemeber in december then if we do a bench program in novermber we can do one again but sub press for the bench and bench for press in the program.

ill post it up and put to a vote when we get closer

glad to hear yall are liking it. How have her results been? tryin to get my wife back into lifting.

Honestly your Deadlift and Squat max should never be more than 15-20% away from each other with most people being able to deadlift more. They're essentially the same movements just reversed.

Man, like a dummy, I didn't even use the third plate. I had 275 on there, then went to 295, then to 315, so I was just adding 10s each time lol. Rookie mistake.

We’re only on week 2. She really likes them all. They are easy to follow but she rathers the ones that take about 30-40 minutes and have 1-2 days of lower body focus.

I don't have enough plates to do 3 plates anyway, haha. Especially with mostly bumper plates, 315 takes up the whole sleeve for me .
