Anyone have one of these or used one?

I just ordered a 3 month kit from Nutrisense. No diabetic problems for me and I’m healthy but I am a nerd for data analytics and wanted to see what foods effected me most so I can fine tune some dietary stuff.

Just looking for someone else’s experience, I know they’re not 100% accurate but should give me a pretty good basis from what I can tell.

I’ve been very interested but have not done it. Can you please report back in a couple months and tell us if it’s is useful? I’d like to know what foods spike my levels, etc.

You can buy an Accu-check meter for $15 at most pharmacies. A fancy keto-mojo meter is $90 and you get ketones.

My GF has been using one for several months - and has been surprised at the results. Sometimes, she gets spikes from foods you might not expect - and then the spike is surprisingly long-lived. The downside is you have to wear it.

My fitness guy recommended one as an option. Haven’t pulled the trigger on it. I understand it would catch spikes on certain foods, but not sure how I’d use that data….

Used Freestyle Libre. Was interesting to see foods I would not think would spike, would send numbers through the roof. Couldn't get past the false alarms during the night. If I slept with my arm pinched underneath me, which I seem to do often, it would fire off the loud low reading alarm in the middle of the night. Hit the trash can after a few of these.

I follow them on social media and pretty much stick to that lifestyle. Nose-tail, animal based.

Dang that’s no good. I am concerned about the arm placement. That’s one area where I don’t hold a lot of body fat and I do sleep on my side. I’ll watch out for that.

Yes, but that particular guest talked a lot about monitoring in that episode.

That Dr didn’t even finish a residency which is a big red flag for me.

I don't know much about it, but do research docs have to finish clinical residencies?

Almost all of them do but technically no. However, this person has a clinic so is clinical.

My take on CGM for nondiabetics is that they are an advanced tool and of little utility until your body composition is near optimal, you are really strong and really cardiovascularly fit. Even then I question whether they significantly benefit your health. There is a question of the significance of much of the data. I also think they would increase the risk of developing an eating disorder/obsessing over food. I cynically believe that these products target people that already are overly obsessive about their diet.

However, I do think doing an oral glucose tolerance test for many people would be very useful to screen for insulin resistance. Because it is a controlled experiment and evidence based, the information is more useful and reliable than a cgm. Plus it’s way cheaper.

I'm mostly with you. On the one hand, our bodies are remarkably singular, and thus it's hard to prescribe one size fits all solutions. On the other hand, if you eat, sleep and live "right", you won't be needing to do a lot of monitoring. You'll know if something major is off without "tracking" yourself.

I'm generally against any of this stuff that attempts to define health in such a reductive fashion.

I agree with your statement. I have had episodes of hypoglycemic attacks but they are rare. My mother has them more frequently. I stay away from high glycemic foods but I really wanted to play around with different foods and see how my body responds.

Sometimes I feel like I do a lot better by eating more frequently and have something with glucose in it. On the other hand, I like the science behind keto/carnivore/etc. So I’m hoping this will tell me a little more about my body.

But to your point, I do tend to overthink things, that’s my personality.

I wore one for s little while. I tried the nutrisense and freestyle libre. Even though they are the same hardware the nutrisense app was much better and more reliable with the readings. Nutrisense is much more expensive though.

It is a great tool to monitor your glucose. It is kind of annoying to wear but I did read about people putting them in different spors on the body and not having any issies.
