What’s the go to option for a garage gym when it comes to brand. Was looking at the rogue Ohio bar for Olympic lifts and powerlifting. Should be fine for the weight I use when doing powerlifting movements. What’s your favorite set of bumpers?
Moving next week and want to go ahead and order so I’ll get them sooner than later if I can even find any in stock.

Already have
10-30 dumbbells, will eventually add to this in time.
Plyo box
Rogue strongman bags #100 & #150
#45 Sandbag
Bench
Bands

As long as you're not buying some cheap barbells from a big box store, any will be fine.

Valor has their OB-86-1000 bar in stock and the OB-80W-NB in stock.

LINK

The 1000 is a 45lb chrome barbell and the 80W-NB is a 35lb needle bearing bar with a max limit of 500. If you don't go over 500 and don't mind the small handle diameter, the NB would be a great bar. Every time we have a high volume clean or snatch workout at GCF, I grab a 35lb bar and use it.

I have the Ohio Bar in Cerakote. I like the bar itself. If it was available in Stainless when I was ordering, I would have gone with that.

I also have the HG 2.0 Bumpers (45s, 25s, and 10s). I like them good enough but they are some thiccc bois. Could be an issue if I start deadlifting above mid 400s again. I wanted the flecks, but I took what I could get.

Can’t go wrong with an Ohio power bar both for quality and availability. They are coming in stock in small quantities often, but need to use roguestockbot.com or distill extension on chrome to get a quick notification and grab one before they are gone. Usually only last a few minutes. With distill I’ve been able to get everything I needed in a couple of weeks from rogue.

I bought a fringe sport wonder bar for $180 about a year ago and am very happy with it but the price has jumped a lot since then and is now firmly in rogue territory. Would choose opb in the current market

I have the HG2 as well

They are probably too thic lol

They don’t feel right when doing heavy Olympic lifts, I’m gonna get some legit thin competition bumpers this summer

But the HG2s are great to most conditioning workouts

I have the cerakote Ohio Power Bar and love it but the knurling is not for the faint of hear.

Bumpers are rogue Echos (35, 25, 10) and HG2’s (45, 15). Have no problems with either, but the HG2’s are probably not the best for powerlifting as they are extremely thick. I will probably have to dump them next year for training bumpers as I progress due to the sheer space on the bar the 45s take up.

I wouldn’t say I don’t like it, just if the market had been normal I would have gone stainless. It’s really just the sleeves. Sliding weights on and off has left marks after just a month or so. It’s in my garage in Houston so I’ll probably oil it once a blue moon on the sleeves just to prevent any surface rust. I’m not replacing it or getting rid of it. I’ll use it for many years to come.

Hand feel is great. I use it for both power and oly lifts. The knurling is perfect for me.
