I would like to get a few opinions on eating boiled crawfish while on a high protein, low carb, low calorie diet.

Put all the other goodies aside like, corn, potatoes, sausage etc...and of course the crawfish dipping sauce and beer.

If you were to sit down and go through 3-5 lbs of boiled crawfish are you really setting yourself back? I'm not worried about retaining water weight, its always easy to flush it out.

Most of the nutritional info on crawfish is that they really arent that bad for you and are actually high in protein.

Whats the choice when starting to feel a diet fatigue and craving something good?

Crawfish is straight protein and fat. Dig in.

Who gives a shite. Crawfish is something we only get to enjoy part of the year. Eat it and enjoy

Crawfish tails are almost entirely protein. It's honestly hard to truly overeat Crawfish. The problem they create comes from the sodium. You're gonna put on 5+ pounds for up to a week strictly from bloating from taking in so much salt. If you can deal with that, then there's not much downside to them if you stay away from the alcohol and some of the sides. Jerry Lee's Andoullie from a Crawfish boil is my favorite, though

Was coming to comment on the sodium as well... but totally worth it.

Am I wrong in saying that I don’t think sodium is an issue when trying to drop weight? Like actual body fat I don’t care about water weight

Not at all, one will still drop body fat when bloated from that level of sodium intake. But some people don't handle the elevated weight well and it can throw them off course.

You know, have 4-6 miller lites or M. Ultra and you can still keep the carbs reasonable. Is it ideal? Hell no. Is it fun, and a low impact comparatively...yeah. Much better than pizza. It also isn't like you're nailing the beers like that more than once a week anyway.

Enjoy life.

I put down 5-7 pounds on Saturday, dropped about 1.5 pounds when I weighed Sunday, stalled on Monday, and continued dropping weight on Tuesday

I was under the impression if you have a sodium deficiency, like many of us on keto might have, that will actually cause you to retain water at certain periods...am I wrong? I started retaining water a couple of weeks ago so I've been eating a small pack of sunflower seeds in the afternoons and retaining water hasn't been a problem. Help me out!!!

I've never been on a diet but hoping to lose about 5 lbs before the summer. I will be eating a bunch of boiled crawfish tonight (with potatoes/corn/sausage) and probably about six beers or so.

It usually makes me retain an additional 5 lbs of water weight for 24-48 hours. I plan to lift weights tomorrow afternoon. Maybe it's just a mental thing but I always feel a little stronger with the extra water weight. Trying to look at the positive.

I love eating too much to ever go completely clean, although IF in spots seems to help me lose those last few lbs when needed.

Like others have said, the only unhealthy part is the high sodium content, but they're mostly protein. Avoid the fixins sauce and beer and it won't set you back at all.

Who dips their crawfish in a sauce though?

You probably won’t notice it if you exercise regularly. If you stay away from beer and all the extra, crawfish is a great diet food. It’s all protein and fat. I think one pound if crawfish meat is around 400 calories, and it takes roughly 7 pounds of boiled crawfish to get 1 pound of tail meat.
