Is any one weight lifting belt belt better that the other for squats and DLs?

depends....are you talking for a competition or just for use in the gym?
if using just for the gym....i suggest a nice leather belt like the rogue ohio belt or one the pioneer 13mm P3 belt from elitefts.
if talking comp....get a really good lever self locking belt.

You typically want a 3” or 4” wide piece of leather. You can get them 7, 10, or 13 mm thick. 10mm is sufficient for most people.
Good brands are rogue, pioneer, dominion, and inzer.
The whole point of the belt is to create more abdominal pressure when you brace for the lift. They aren’t essential, but can really help when going heavy.
Avoid the traditional “weightlifting” belt that is only wide in the back.

Strictly for gym use. They have some in the gym for everyone to use but at times they're being used. I'd rather have mine and have it available when i need it.

than just get a rogue ohio lifting belt or one from elitefts.

Don't become dependent on the belt. Bracing and strengthening your midline during lifts is part of the lift. I only use a belt when the weight gets around 90% or heavier.

i 100% agree with this.

If it’s for powerlifting, I would get a nice leather belt. If you’re doing strongman, I would recommend a synthetic velcro belt to prevent implements from catching. Pioneer and Rogue make solid leather belts, and I like the Cerberus synthetic belts.

Back already has some issues so i don't go crazy. Plus at 52.... I'd like to be able to get around a few more year.
But yes, i get what you're saying. I used a belt once during this DL month and that's when i did anything above 250'ish.

Inzer makes the best belts you can buy for weightlifting.

I use an inzer for heavy squats and deadlift (lifts 80%+ of max) and a 2pood metcon belt for CrossFit workouts and Olympic lifting.
Inzer belt is great quality and I know I’ll never have to replace it because I take care of it. It will outlive me and probably my kids

I have the 6mm lever belt from pioneer. Little less stiff than the 10mm+ belt. The lever is all about convenience for me. No worrying about buckling and unbuckling. Just pop it open to loosen, but still stays in place ready to lock back in tight. I have a bad back and use it on anything remotely heavy.
