Started doing a seated good morning with a barbell. The pad at the gym sucks. It moves around and inevitably shifts to where the damn bar is on my neck again. Yall recommend a good one that won't move around and is padded well?

Thanks,

I use this one for hip thrusters at home to avoid judgement

Safety squat bar is the goat for good mornings, but on a barbell I used nothing. I used a low bar squat position and never had a problem with rolling on my neck. In fact, in my experience people that have it rolling on their necks aren’t hinging, they’re just bending at the waist

ETA: not accusing you of poor form, just a thought I had
ETA2: I’m an idiot, you said seated GM. SSB is still the best

I have a bad back which has caused my right hip to get stiff while running. At the advice of the Knees Over Toes Guy, I started incorporating the seated good morning. I hate to say that an exercise has been life altering, but this one has. After two years of trying everything the PT and various orthos told me, the internet guy gave me the tool that fixed it.

So….. with that said, I need to find a pad that makes it easier for me to continue to do it. And, my form may be fricking awful.

good to hear man. hope it continues to treat you well. I always like it but it does feel a little different from a normal BB squat to me. but great either way. for GM it should keep it from moving and make it much more comfortable.

I use pull throughs to do the same kind of warm up; it's extremely easy to maintain back position doing pull throughs. It is very, very, easy to maintain proper back position on a pull through, even with the whole stack pinned. A lot of folks do good mornings while they are fatigued, it seems. Doesn't seem like a great idea, but that's their issue.

I don't know about anyone else, but non-max weight exercises like the good morning are a "conditioning" exercise, so lower weight to condition your body to stretch that stuff out is the key. I'm not loading on a good morning of any sort (it's about stretching the hammies, not about getting stronger), that's for the real deal (DL.)

Game changer. Had quit squatting because of spine issues and this has completely alleviated the pressure and pain. I won't go heavy again, but can do maintenance.
