Yes I will be discussing with my doctor but wanted to ask those that are on it on any issues they may have with it. Have had three straight years with elevated results. Have a family history with heart disease. My paternal grandpaw died at 59 from a heart attack. My dad had a triple bypass with a heart valve replacement at 69. My brother although healthy is on cholestrol meds, my maternal grandfather had a triple bypass. No surprise at 47 I finally got stuck and am on it. I do exercise 5 times a week. My diet could be better.

Thanks

Your diet is the #1 way to clean up your cardiovascular health. If you are already putting in the work with exercise, why feed your system with shitty fuel.

Lipitor has some serious side effects. Do everything you can (diet change) to potentially get off it.

Also, know that the main number you need to be watching is triglycerides. Get them under 100 and keep it down there.

Simple answer...I really like food. I have been overweight all of my life. I am being honest in saying that I think I always will be. Call it what you want, lazy, etc. I don't eat out much, but of course don't eat enough veggies, take in too many carbs, sugar, etc. My triglycerides are 110, so if that is the key, and I am sure it isn't, then that is down below 150 where my doctor says it should be. The issue is my cholesterol is at 227, LDL is at 159 and Non HDL is at 182. LDL should be below 100 and HDL below 130. Cholesterol should be below 200.

couple different things here....i take a statin, the generic for zocor and have no side effects and am a big believer in statins, but lets get one thing straight they are not mircle workers and unless you do something yourself....well you are going to end up just like your grandfather and father

no shite, we all do. nobody said you have to give up food, but a little self discpline never hurt anyone. Do you think we dont enjoy food? Many of us still eat thick as in big arse juicy steaks.

you arent lazy but you are meantly weak. really weak especially with the self defeatist attitude and the fact you have given up.

you say you exercise....how? what intensities? how long?

I find most people are mentally weak and lazy fricks when it comes to working out. I feel like that when i see people like brian alshure getting after it but my expierence is the everyday guy is a pussy when it comes to working out with any intensity.

do you lift

way more imporant that overall cholesterol number is fasted blood sugar and hdl numbers along wiht the triglycerides.

bottomline if you are not willing to change just take the pill but its not gonna do that much.

Do a half hour on the eliptical and half hour on the exercise bike. No I do not lift. I started doing so back in 2020 and lost 30 pounds, but of course when the gyms closed due to Covid, I gained 15 pounds back.

Before 2020, it was probably 20 years if not longer since I had worked out.

You can call me what you want, as I don't give two shits. I asked a simple question. Are you on meds and what are the bad side effects. But carry on.

Well, there you go.

Find a new doctor who has read science from this millennium.

To answer your original question, no I am not on meds. They wanted to put me on statins and I was Prediabetic 7 years ago. The side effects terrified me.

I fixed my diet and have reversed all markers of high blood pressure, high triglycerides, and all markers of potential diabetes.

Not trying to be a smart arse but how am I supposed to know what my doctor reads?

So what are you saying these numbers should be? The benchmark numbers I am referring to.

Not if you're genetically predisposed.

Lipitor kicked my arse. Major joint pain. Now on lovastatin for years. No issues.

Try a Pesca-Mediterranean Diet combined with the Louis Farrakhan Diet.

Pesca-Mediterranean = Lots of Fish and plant-based protein...legumes, nuts, fruit, etc...and whole grains...and make sure your whole grains are 100% whole grains, and not some lesser number.

Louis Farrakhan Diet = Anti-white diet...no white rice, white bread, white pasta...only eat brown rice, whole wheat bread, whole wheat pasta...

You should get a CT scan on your heart with a calcium score...if you have any calcium inside your artery walls, that is a sign of plaque and you will want your LDL under 70.

I agree and was anti-statin for a while until I really put in some research. I have zero sides and take a very low does every day. I had a CAC score and showed Plaque in my LAD. Staitins stabilize plaque and are very good at it. Now, if you take too much of a stain, your body starts to seek plaque out and can cuase cardiovascular events. Take enough to keep plaque at bay and stabilized. Get a CAC score every few years to track your plaque.

Chicken, how do you come up with 70? My dr says 100.... I am legitimately asking.... I'm at 108 now and currently working on it, but I was shooting for under 100 not 70

I just know that cardiologists want it under 70 if you are showing signs of plaque buildup up and are not on a statin.

I had an EKG, Ultra sound of my heart and a stress test and all checked out fine. This was 2016. I don't recall doing a CT scan with a calcium score, but when I go back to my cardiologist I will ask.

Have you look at your HDL/total cholesterol ratios and trygl/HDL ratios ? Research what they mean to you.

I got off crestor. Made me feel horrible
