I splurged this year and bought both the short and long sleeved tshirts. Ordered a pair of orange shorts because I know my wife won't like them.

I seriously considered the button up shirt.

This year, I'm snagging one of those Deadcember ugly sweaters.

I didn't see them in time to get one before Christmas.

The socks and beanie are awesome but I'd like to see them in person. I didn't love the way my shirt fit last year. May go long sleeve this year.

Other than figuring out my max on squats, what other lifts do they typically assign that require you to take a percentage of a max? Bench? Deadlift?

Yes, the big 3. Back squats, bench press, and deadlifts.

Last year was my first time doing it. Squat (Back/Front/both) every day. It also had variations of bench (10 days) and deadlift (5 days). You'll need your maxes for these. Sometimes Aaron will give a lift variation, but will say to use the max for the base lift. (ie Front Squat, use 45% of Back Squat max).

Also, once you get your 1 rep max, you can use this calculator and it will list all your percentages in 5% increments all the way down to 50%.

I actually hand write all of these on the back of a piece of paper in a binder. I also hand write all of the workouts and then I just move my % cheat sheet each day.

All of the workouts are dated with the weights and notes so I can flip back and see what I did previous years. Yeah, it's nerdy, but that's who I am.

one rep max calulator

I guess that makes 2 of us.

Another important note about 1RMs, in case it hasn't been mentioned already, it's advised (by the main coach behind SQUATober programming, as well as other coaches) to use a "Training Max", which is itself a fraction of the 1RM (whether calculated from multiple reps or actually tested as so). The most common place to begin with is 90%. Take 90% of your calculated or tested 1RM and that is your TM(training max) and that is the number you would calculate your working percentages from that you'll load on the bar.

Here is specifically how PPSA explains their position(this picture is taken from PPSA IG feed, the shortcut to it is under the HELP reel at the top, it's one of the latter slides if you want to dig it up yerself)

Feel free to use less than 90%(. Feel free to use 100%. It's just a strong recommendation is all, I've done PPSA grasshopper with 100% and it didn't get punishing until several weeks in, but it got there and I use a TM now. I find it's the best way to train.

That's a pretty sharp looking hat, but I'm gonna need the trucker version, big puffy white foam front, mesh back. If it doesn't look like a promotional giveaway from the feed store I won't wear it.

Here it is.....kinda like that!

I got my shirts and shorts today. The shirts are better than last year's shirts.

The shorts are a little tight on the legs. I got the orange ones because I knew the wife and kids would hate them. They definitely had the desired effect.

*Now the wife said the shorts remind her of Fred Flintstone so her and the kids are walking around saying, "Yabba dabba doo."

I did 100% last year. It was rough, but my final 1RM exploded. Great results.

Yeah, I had to go up a size in shorts. I mailed mine back Friday and they are exchanging for me.

If you regularly do squats then go up a size in shorts or they will fit like boxer briefs.
