Most shoe stores do a gait analysis, right?

Yea they should. If possible I’d go to two or three different ones and get a few different opinions in case you get someone new who doesn’t know what they’re doing or if whoever owns your local store is a scam artist, just to be sure. Be wary and walk straight out of the door and save yourself $200+ if a store tells you that you need support AND supportive insoles, because you never need those two things in conjunction. Aside from that most running stores across the country do a good job, selling running shoes is a pretty hard thing to screw up if you even halfway know what you’re doing honestly

Nike's are pretty much fashion shoes at this point. Can't go wrong with Brooks or Saucony but they can be expensive for some people.

I wouldn’t say that about Nike. I wore about every shoe. I always dissed Nike too but these Zoom Vaporflys are legit.
I rotate Altra (ones), Nike (Vaporfly), Saucony (Kinvaras), & Topo

Any store recommendations in Baton Rouge?

Varsity for sure. Not sure if they have a Louisiana Running company, Fleet feet, etc. over there.

When I switched to Zero Drop (Altra), and properly trained to fix my strike and stride, my lifelong IT-band issues disappeared. It was pretty unbelievable.
My wife has minimal rise Brooks. Loves them.
Brother runs in Sauconys. He is a competitive-level triathlete.
Hokas get a lot of love. Never tried them. Wife didn't like hers.
That's all I've got. I absolutely love Altras. Perfect fit (but def get fitted--don't just guess sizing). My only complaint about Altras is, a couple pair have worn on the sides a bit prematurely, with heavy trail use. But they were so cheap I didn't care.

I always hated on Nike too as just a fashion shoe.
But to kind of show the brand irrelevance.
I rotate my runs between:
Adidas Pure Boost DPR
Brooks Launch
Altra Escalante
and now Nike Zoom Fly SP

I've been running in Inov8's for years and I'm considering Altra's for my next pair. Which model do you use?
And I can't help but shake my head when running stores fit a shoe to someone's shitty form, when all they should be worrying about is fixing their hip-shuffling, heel-striking, duck-footed stride.

Yep. I'm in the superior 2.0s. I haven't switched to 3.0s yet because I heard the sizing changed, and I want to go in and try them on. I just keep ordering cheap 2.0s. eta: it looks as though the 3.5 is the current model.
I've done trail half marathons and probably put another 350 miles or so on my latest two pair. I keep the rock plate in one and leave out of the other.
Everything except the fabric right by the tow box on outside holds up really well. It's a trade off with weight, price, comfort, and durability, as with most sports and outdoors gear.

Kinvaras‘s are great I use them on my cradio days. Brooks addiction for the strength day/everyday.

I def recommend Varsity. Good staff, tell them what you want/what you do they’ll hook you up. Probably the best selection in BR.

I've been using Brooks adrenaline for a couple months. It was hard to choose between them and the ghost 10 as they are both comparable. Yesterday I bought these Cloudsurfers by On Run (Swiss Company) and they are amazing. I went for a short run and I've never felt such support and stability in my running shoes.
