I think both are impressive for sure in their own right. If he ran the mile first, and then squatted 500, that's an amazing feat IMO. Squat first is still pretty good.
That being said, the achievement is probably not getting much attention because of how different the exercises are. I mean, you are using different muscles for each activity.
I do appreciate the running a sub 5 mile not being that special crew. Come on, I know it happens a lot, but it's rare enough that less than one percent of humans will ever achieve a sub 5. And this is coming from a guy that could sleepwalk a sub 5 at 39, bruh.

Yeah I think some are not understanding the cross-training aspect. This guy isn't a running specialist or a powerlifter. The feat is impressive because of the diversity of the athletes skill, not because of the raw numbers.
Natural powerlifters can squat 700 pounds and would think a 500lb squat unimpressive just as runners find that sub-5 mile unimpressive, but putting the two together is impressive.

I personally don’t know any powerlifters than raw squat 700lb.

700 may be a bit of an exaggeration but my point remains the same.

Lol that’s the whole point.
People who squat 500lbs usually do not have the cardiovascular endurance & body type to run a sub 5 mile.
People that run sub 5 miles usually have some type of running background. They usually do not weight train hard enough to build up to almost a 3x body weight squat.
Both feats usually take rigorous individual training to complete either on its own.
