Looks like planned on top row and actual on second row. Could be wrong though.

Has anyone done the Rouge to Orleans run? I think it's down the levee for the most part.

Just out of curiosity, are you looking to do well (top 30%) or just survive the race. Your schedule looks like a Hal Higdon program (i used him for 2 marathons).

Only reason I ask, your weekly mileage looks light. I'm training for a 50k and my long week is 68 miles. 1st 4 weeks, working on VO2 max, next 4 LT, last 8 are more race specific.

Your resume in ultra running is already more extensive than mine,so am I setting myself up for disaster?

By doing outdoor endurance events I finally found my motivation to stay in shape

Absolutely. I’ve always been moderately in shape for my 30s (20s were bad for me) but endurance running has been the difference maker.

Strava has helped me want to be a bit more competitive as well.

Tomorrow a couple of guys and I are going to go knock a dude out of the top 10 for a segment just because he’s kinda a dick.

knocked the dick off. didn't get KoM. dude with the KoM ran a 4:48 pace for .8 miles.

i wasn't that fast in HS on my best day and i was pretty quick for a white boy.

that's why i like things like Strava. i think if i was just running and had no idea of my mileage for the week or segments, i'd never do it. it lets me be competitive without roid raging or being a guy that tries too hard in pick up basketball.

No. The top line is "Training Plan" and the bottom line is what I actually ran on that day.

Is it even still an event? I looked into it a while back but , honestly, it didn't get great reviews. I think that it may have changed ownership at some point, so maybe things are different.

Traditionally, less than 50% of the runners finish the races that I am really starting to focus on - Cactus Rose and Dinosaur Valley.

My mileage for this training plan is certainly reduced but I am also doing a good bit of cross training in addition to the running. I've done really big mileage for a 100 miler in the past and really low mileage. One resulted in a DNF b/c of a race day injury and the other race got canceled about 10 hours into it. So I can't say if one training style was better than the other for 100 miles.

Good question and I didn't even think to look before asking.

Rouge Orleans official race no longer exists due to permitting issues. However last year the day after thanksgiving a group of 10 or so from Louisiana Ultra Runners put together a "fat arse run". it started at the USS KID and ended at Audubon Park. 127 miles all along the levee. it was self supported. 3-4 people finished, fasted time was little over 30 hrs. I ran the first 40 as a training run. They may do it again this year. check their Facebook page

Where ya at homeboy? Still training?

I got derailed for 3 1/2 weeks, but am back on it. My schedule is gonna be a little screwed but I've got a decent base. I just won't have the mega mileage weeks I was hoping for. My race is in October in SC.

Anyone else have a 50k+ race planned this year?
