Why is English Turn no longer private?

What happened to that place? Was it just too far outside of NOLA to remain private?

Because it is in BFE would be my guess but I have no idea. I wouldn’t want to drive that far out.

Katrina was the straw that broke the camel’s back. My uncle was the club champ there a couple of years. After the storm he moved to Burnt Pine. A lot of the old guard split around that time.
For the record, English Turn is Primo right now.

Please be this way in about 2 1/2 weeks. Haven't been back to NO in about 7 years and will be bringing the clubs and will play here. As a kid growing up there, this was always the course I wanted to play, but only did it a few times since it was private. To me, it's far and away the best course in the New Orleans metro area.

One of my favorite courses in the state, its awesome.
Loved when the tournament was there, you could get super close to the players on the tee box.

Was at the 18th green when David Frost chipped in out of the trap to give Greg Norman one of his setbacks. Played the Mid Am there in 01 or 02. Birdied the same hole, but the conventional way, day one. Blew up to shoot 90 something the next day. Cool course. Remember the course was pretty flat and barren at the N.O. open. When I went back to the Mid Am lots of trees and shrubs grew, different looking course.
