re: Irons going left

I have a neutral to weak grip already, but I felt like when I played the other day I was bowing left wrist more than I do normally, seems like with a weak grip that would potentially cause the face to close at impact.

Six Feet tall, but round and have been working on shallowing out. Seems to have been successful in shallowing out my angle

Irons going left

For a while now my mid to short irons have been turning left. It is pull draw not a hook, but today it was more noticeable. I have a tendency to set up a little closed both feet and shoulders.

Any general ideas? Ball too forward? A little over the top?

This. I have friends in Thoth, Tucks, and Carollton and all seem to have a blast.

KDT is not as exclusive as some of the old line, blueblood Krewes (e.g. Proteus, Hermes, Rex) but getting in isn't easy without some VERY close connections. Even with very close connections, you're looking at several years to get in and as others have mentioned, there are more members than floats.

Regarding your question about Hermes; not to be curt, but if you're asking about membership (especially on a public forum) then you almost certainly don't have the connections to be a member.

As I said, I am already in a Krewe but was asking about KDT. I could ask the people I know in it as I know them well, just wasn't sure if it was like Proteus, Rex, Comus, etc and I shouldn't bring it up (and maybe easier to inquire here anonymously whether that was bad form or not). I know a few guys working there way up through to Proteus/Chaos through the non-parading krewes and old line clubs, but generally they don't talk about it and I know if I were to ask about it that would be rude.

I didn't ask about Hermes, I mentioned it and mentioned I wasn't sure if I knew anyone in it as in they aren't going around talking about it.

They have a long waiting list, in addition, they have way more members than rider spots on floats. All those guys walking in skeleton costumes? They are krewe members who have not got to be riders yet because the floats are full.

That's what I thought. I just wasn't sure if it was uncouth to mention to them my interest in getting on the waiting list etc to them. Interested in joining another krewe and I really enjoy both D'Etat and Hermes. Not sure that I know anyone in Hermes and I hear great things about D'Etat.

Are you from New Orleans? Nearly every single thing here (most obviously Krewe memberships) is based off of the old “who you know” system.

Yes, I am already member of another Krewe.

Le Krewe D'Etat Membership

What is the rollcall or process for this Krewe? They have a waiting list I believe.

I know a few guys in it, all of which seemed to go to the same high school. But don't really want to inquire about it because I can't tell if it is a krewe you have to have someone invite you into.

Should I be paging glassman?

I'd visit all of them, play them all a few times before jumping in, and see which one best fits your needs.

Did it in Nola and ended up happy with my decision.

Side note; just remember the club is only as good as the members. People tend to overlook this when joining a club.

Are you at one of the two private clubs in NOLA? Because that is a drawn out process and not as simple as playing and deciding which course you like best.

OP, with a young family proximity will be one of the most important parts of your decisions but also the pool and activities for your wife and child. That will make the club experience better for you and the whole family. Something for everybody.

That’s a complaint I’ve heard about taylormade for years. They are so mass produced, that it’s quantity over quality.

Versus what? You don't think Callaway, Cleveland, Titleist, etc or all producing the same amount of product?

I could see there being some club inconsistencies due to their popularity and needing to get them out with how popular they were when they first came out; they were steadily back ordered on the heads. But, not the idea that the same club struck the same way gets different distances, that just doesn’t make sense.

Also, a certain club fitter in Gretna loves them if we are talking about fitters

That doesn’t make sense. How would two shots struck identically have a 20 yard difference? I wouldn’t believe that out of a box set much less the taylormades. That sounds physically impossible, the material composition of the face isn’t shifting between shots.

Why is English Turn no longer private?

Posted by Jimmyjack on 6/10/18 at 10:42 pm
What happened to that place? Was it just too far outside of NOLA to remain private?

Metairie Country Club is private. Not sure if you have a connection there.

NOCC seems like a lot of the same people that are in old line krewes. I know several, but not extremely well.

Is there any other way to come out of the gate but strong?

I heard that NOCC was $50K, but wasn't sure if that was accurate. I thought it was a little high. I was thinking it would be $30-35K. But, that was just a guess.

Does anyone play there or know anything about the stock/initiation costs?

Metairie Country Club?

They seems like the only real private clubs in NOLA.
