I really don’t understand how it is so bad.

BREC and LSU flood the market with capacity and decrease prices. It really is that simple.

Do other nearby states have this issue? I know there are several nice courses in Arkansas and Mississippi.

Case in point, Hattiesburg is way smaller than BR and they have some really nice courses.

I’m a member out at Pel. Course is in good shape. Greens have been awesome for a while now.

They just did a 3 year membership deal that has been getting people out there. I enjoy it.

Fun course with the 6/6/6 layout. Played last week and greens are in better shape than they have been in a long time. Some challenging holes, but overall not a very tough course.

Biggest negative is there is no driving range. Which really does suck.

I played the Lakes yesterday. I think that they may be punching the greens on the Links today.

Chipping is my downfall. Any tips?

Learn to bump and run. Chipping makes the game more complicated IMO.

If you insist on chipping, find higher bounce soles for your wedges.

This.
I like to consider two chip options.
Forward in your stance and fly it (I usually do this over features like bunkers and lips).
Or back in your stance and punch for a bump and run. (I usually do this on shots that don't quite make it onto the green).

Easy course to score well on. Pretty forgiving fairways. Reachable par 4s & par 5s. Big greens. Not a ton of bunkers or hazards.

No clue on the current shape. I quit playing it when it went to shite.

Thanks for the chipping tips, man. If the circumstances call for it, i will try the bump and run.

I'm not sure if I do it right, but I don't break my wrists on the bump and run. I keep them locked and strike through the ball. It stays low and rolls more like a putt. You just have to practice on where to land it. But it gives you a decent chance to get up and down.

Chipping tip is use the bounce of the club. Don’t try to dig it... once you learn to use the bounce the short game becomes much easier on all shots

Played the Lakes course again today. They're not punching until next week on the Links.

You literally talk out of your arse more than anybody in this entire forum... You talk all this negativity about a course being bad a year ago???? Are you serious? A lot can happen to a golf course in a year if maintained properly I suggest you Go play the course then come back and tell everyone your sorry for being an idiot

Never. Gets. Old.

I made an honest post. I’m sorry it triggered you. Every time I go play it, it’s because the locals say it’s getting better or turning around. And from the recent reports, it’s still crap. So...
