Which putter should I get in 2024?

Upgrading from an old ‘02 hand-me-down blade. Never used a mallet on course, but I like the feel and alignment of them in store

Haven’t tried the LAB yet, but have seen mixed reviews on them (assume it’s mostly because of price point more than anything)

Very good putter for the price. Odyssey Rossi OG S

Spider
Look what it did for Scottie.

One that you putt well with.

Go to a big box store that has a huge selection of putters. Figure out if you prefer a blade, mid-size blade or a mallet style. Then if you can afford it, go to a specialty shop that has the S.A.M. Lab system to get the best putter for your stroke by getting custom fitted. With all that said, I just ordered a LAB DF3 because of social media hype of their technology.

Do you hate 3 putts still or has it improved?

Ok,
I spent some time today putting with a LAB DF3 today.
I hate to say that I could not get comfortable with it. I understand the mechanics and the thought behind the putters, but it wasn't for me.
I would not discourage anyone from trying the LAB putters at all.
I have a TaylorMade Spider Tour V right now.
I ordered a Sub 70 center-shafted Sycamore mallet last week. Hope to get it soon.

The putter has to swing. If you swing it the same as a putter with torque, you’ll struggle. If the putter just swings, it wants to square itself. The majority can’t use the same grip they’ve always used. I went to a weaker left hand and a claw. Thumbs off putting drills help a ton.

Yes it is. I traded it off on a PING Ally Blue, and I don’t love it. I’m going to try to keep trying get used to it, but in the meantime I plan to go back to a PGA Superstore and fool with a LAB without my 3 year old running around. If I can’t get happy with the PING soon and don’t love the LAB, I’ll probably go back to the Rossi.

I'm sure you are right .

Scotty. Find the style you like and you will always have a nice putter. If you like center shafted mallets get the Scotty. Labs will be a fad. Scotty’s will always be of value. Just my opinion

I pushed the ball so getting a toe balanced putter has done wonders for me. My 3 putts are way down and much rarer now.
Went with the spider red mallet style.

Roll one of the Cobra 3D printed ones. Love mine. A cheaper variant of the Sik tech.

I bought a SeeMore today.

Go to a local store with a lot of options and just start putting. I had it in my head I needed a Scotty long ago. My wife came with me. I tell her to pick her out a putter and have fun. I start putting and I’m not making a thing. Meanwhile, she’s just bombing every putt in the center of the hole around the entire green. She says, “Hey. Maybe you should try this one”. It was an Odyssey Black Series #9. I laughed and gave it a whirl and started getting the same results she did. I’ve had it for 10 years now.
Point being, go in with an open mind and see what works best for you.

I had some trouble keeping the face square through impact (I use a straight back, straight through putting stroke). I could read the lines well and get the right speed relatively well. Spider X was a nice addition to the bag and I rolled it well with it. But I switched to a LAB DF3 this year and my putting has improved tremendously. I can't envision taking this one out of my bag. Its a machine. I tried all of the LAB putters. Wasn't a huge fan if the blade-style LINK. I liked the Mezz Max but the DF3 was the ticket for me. I feel like I have a real shot at anything inside 20 feet now. It's expensive though.

It won't be long until the other putter companies copy LAB.
Odyssey already has the AiOne Broomstick out.
