Have this really bad habbit that pops up off and on. Always accompanied by swinging too hard. Any tips or drills to correct this, other than just "keep your head down" haha?

I don’t just “keep my eyes on the ball.” I find one dimple or letter on the ball and make sure my eyes are locked on that small spot the whole swing. It was an instant fix for me.

Do you hit a lot of shots weak and to the right (coming out of it)? If that is the case, then try thinking just about your right knee. They to keep it flexed in the same position as you turn around your body. Maybe also square your left toe up at address if it’s not already. Keep your right foot on the ground a little longer than normal through impact. All these will help you stay behind the ball and the looking up should take care of itself.

My dad used to tell me “Boy, I’m gonna tie a rope from your head to your damn nuts, now keep your gaaaht damn head down”.

It eventually worked…

Practice it. I have a weighted swing trainer I use all the time to improve strength and flexibility in my swing. I pracrice the timing of keeping my head down with it. Gets to be automatic.

“Keep head down” may not work for everyone.

The head does move some in a golf swing.

I like “staying centered” as a thought rather than “keep your head down.” The latter may create tension (my opinion based on my personal swing). My swing is best when tension is minimal.

However, I’m not a teaching pro and would suggest you work with a pro to sort out the best way for you to swing a golf club.

Does the head move in a good golf swing?
Yes

It’s mental. Accept you are not a single digit player. Swing slower BUT commit to swing through and don’t give a shite what happens after. When you stop caring so much - - you play better

Your problem isn’t keeping your head down or trying to see where the ball goes early. I promise you.

Keep the club underneath you.

I know it sounds weird but it worked for me

Literally “keep your head down”. Look at your divot before the ball.

Tie fishing line around your neck with the other end tied to a sharp hook positioned just below your nutsack.
