re: What are you goals this season?

For me it is breaking 40 on a nine. I have done it before but it takes the best I got and even then I may not make it.
I would love to break 80 of course but I just don't have the consistency to play well enough over a full round to pull that off.

BUMP to check in towards the end of golf season.
Qualified for the State Am, definitely didn't sniff the weekend. So 1/2 for my goals. The outside goal was to lower the cap, but didn't do that either.
I've always hit the ball better than I've scored, just because I don't have a ton of rounds under my belt. This year has been the exact opposite. I'm making pars and scrambling my butt off just to hold rounds together. I'm hoping it all comes together this off season and I can hit the ball well and still keep the scoring going.

Good bump.
I got as low as a 1.2 mid summer so got close but as soon as I hit that number, I started to bounce back up slowly. Now back to a 4+. I just haven’t been able to play as much since July. New job that has me traveling much more.

We just had our first little girl in August.... so my goal is to half arse play as much as I did last season.

I'd like to get super technical and see how much better my #s could get with ball, shaft, and head optimization. I think my equipment is about 80-85% of the way there but I've never changed golf balls. Only major equipment change I've gone through is a 17 year putter change from a plumbers neck to flow neck. Saw an immediate impact of 1.5/2 strokes per round due to better strike leading to more confidence.
I am in for a solid iron shaft fitting, definitely need wedges checked out, and always interested in tinkering with a driver shaft. I think that last 20-15% could be a significant boost in the game.
My buddy and I are talking about doing the PXG experience because you are essentially getting custom made golf clubs with the latest and greatest tech in all aspects.

You aren’t getting the new ST irons in the 10K cost, so get fit by someone with trackman and do the driver through putter special for 5K using your fitting specs. I don’t think Scottsdale National is worth 5K to play.

See what I can get for my clubs on eBay is my biggest goal right now.

Congrats on qualifying for the state am.
Sucks going against all the college guys and guys just out of college golf.
And we need to revamp the rules in amateur - we have some baws that were pro too recently playing LGA events.

It’s USGA based on how long they were pro and career earnings. Not like anybody that played the tour last year is going to be at city park next year.

I know it is USGA. It the USGA sucks in many fronts.
Most of us guys have no chance against a kid that graduated from college golf a few years ago - skipped around on mini tours and practicing every damn day.
The guys that play Mexico, China, Thailand, etc are still really good golfers - even the guys that are just doing those q schools are good.
They burn out - USGA gives them amateur status back way to quick then they kick out asses - our being is older guys that have families and real jobs.

Mid Am is your best option. Eliminates the college guys and early burnouts.

I played terrible, but I didn't even scare the cut line. Even had I been playing well, it would have taken two really good rounds for me to make the cut.
I was on the range with 5 guys currently playing college golf. My game is much more suited for the mid am.

Also, this is more of a goal going forward, but for the last few years, I've taken months off during the fall/winter. Either the flood, travel, or birth of a kid has really impacted my ability to play in the cold months. My goal for the rest of this year is to hit balls/play occasionally, so I can keep my swing up. This year, I lost control of the swing and was playing terribly, and it's taken 9 months for me to get back to a place that I'm comfortable with my game. I'd like to not lose that by putting the clubs in the garage for 5 months.
