Taking me son on a golf trip before he goes back to college. We are heading to TPC Sawgrass to play both courses. Saturday we play at Dye’s Valley course and Sunday at The PLAYERS Stadium course.
Anyone here played these course?
I would like to hear about your experiences and any recommendations or things you wish you would have done in the area.

Played TPC Sawgrass back in ‘11-‘12ish. TBH, the course is pretty forgettable except for the last 3-4 holes that you see on TV.

Bring loose shorts. You’ll sweat your bag off.

I hope it has improved or is better than you claim. The price tag on The Players is ridiculous. It’s a Father/Son trip and the older I get the more rare these have become. As long as he enjoys the trip that’s a win for me.
We are excited about 17 and congratulations on the par.

Played Valley last week and it was in excellent condition. A member I played with said they were getting ready to close that course down for renovations. May want to check on that timing. I was going to play Stadium but they were renovating three holes in that course during the time I was there. The whole venue is a wonderful experience. First class all the way!!

Played both several times. For a father/son trip it will be awesome. Like others have said you will be hot. I think every golfer should play the Stadium course once regardless of the price tag. Do I ever need to play it again, probably not. But 16-18 are arguably the best 3 closing holes in golf and a lot of fun to play. You'll enjoy the Dye just as much IMO.

Don’t get me wrong as it was hot, but I think I lucked out as I had a consistent 10 MPH wind at all times. That made it somewhat bearable.

Played it a lot as I lived in the area for several years. Dye’s Valley has been redone since I’ve played it, but it’s underrated to me. Harder than you think.

Stadium is honestly meh until 16. The redesign of 12 makes it interesting; the front side (other than 4 green and that depends on where the hole location is that day) is forgettable. Last time I played I finished eagle-birdie-birdie to shoot 68. That will never happen again.

Hot take - the old Sawgrass CC across the street (which hosted the Players before TPC was completed) is a much better golf course.

Appreciate all the feedback.
We play Aug 1 and 2nd.
I work inside all day so the heat is a nice change. As long as it doesn’t get rained out because our window for this trip is short and narrow. He moves back to college the following weekend.

We have breakfast in the clubhouse both mornings and he is saving his money for merchandise. I feel like a kid thinking about this trip and hope to come back with a good reports.

Sawgrass is a superb golf course - couldn't disagree more about it being forgettable.

Other than 15 - 18, holes 2, 4, 6, 9, 11, and 14 are all awesome holes that are hard to forget. Sawgrass may have the best set of par 5's anywhere in America.

The only hole that I didn't like out there was 7, but that's probably because there isn't a hole anywhere on earth that suits my eye less than that tee shot.

It will be hotter than shite in August, so prepare accordingly.

Played the Dye Course in March. Required to use a Forecaddy and thought he was very helpful. I enjoyed the course just wish I'd have played better.

Yeah I completely disagree with Sawgrass being forgettable. It is such a fun course.

I have played it a handful of times and I will say the one Sunday I played it, the wait at 17 was truly insane. Like over a 1 hour wait.
