Taylormade is out of their gd mind.

I made this post on June 16:

Well, I called DTA yesterday to see if they had an update for me. The club ordering guy said he’d call their rep and see what was taking so long. He calls back about an hour later and says that their rep doesn’t have an answer and that he’d call headquarters about it and see what the hold up is.
They call me back today and say “Mr. grizzlylongcut, they can’t fulfill your order. They’re willing to put your name at the top of the list for next year’s model of P770s at a 25% discount. They’ll be here somewhere between October and January.”
In-fricking-credible.
I told them that they owe me my money back for the fitting and that they need to look into getting me either 790s or a comparable model and fitting specs from a different brand. And that if Taylormade can get my 790s that I’m still not paying full price.
Needless to say, I probably won’t be buying much Taylormade stuff for the foreseeable future.

Got fitted for and ordered Taylormade P770s on February 11 of this year through David Toms Academy. Just got off the phone with them, they pushed the ship date back again to 8/26. I'm almost just tempted to say screw it and just buy a set off one of the websites. I was told when they moved the date back the first time that it was because they are having trouble getting lefty club heads in right now. Now, I have no clue what the hold up is. 6 months is a damn long time. This is ridiculous. Are all the other brands out there taking this long as well?
Eta: Obviously, I know that supply chains are dicked up etc, but Taylormade is saying that they won't be able to ship them until 8/26. Which means that they haven't even been made yet.
Extremely frustrating.

I have the P770s and love them. The P790s are going to be a bigger head, thicker topline, and stronger lofts.
I'd just get my money back if it were me

I'd be pissed too, but it doesn't surprise me. They can barely get enough material to fill right handed orders in like 12 weeks. They aren't going to cast material and all that for a few orders a year.
It sucks, I'm left handed too, shite always takes forever anyway

The thing about it is is that I don’t care if they’re 770s, 790s, apex, stealth, whatever. I’m not good enough nor do I play enough to really notice the difference. I just wanted a set of nice clubs that are new that I can play for 10-15 years. It doesn’t make a difference to me.
What pisses me off is that I was extremely patient with these folks and they just jerked me around for the past 6 months. Never once offered to maybe sub the clubs for something else. Yet now they want me to trust them that they’ll get these new clubs in on time when they have missed every deadline that they’ve set themselves.

It's out of the control of everyone your pissed at. I'm not telling you to be pissed, but there's nothing your fitter or his rep could do about it.
They should have been more proactive about it though

This is what I’m pissed about.
Really I’m pissed at everyone for different reasons. Taylormade for taking the order knowing that they may not fulfill it. The TM rep for being a shitty fricking rep and not checking on the status of an order that he ok’d and was set to make commission on (I guess that’s how he gets paid). DTA for placing the order then doing frick all to check on it with the rep and like a good retailer should. And then never once offering a substitution on brand or model.

Not trying to be an arse, but if you don't care about which club they give you, why did you go to a fitting?
Just buy some like new clubs off wrx or eBay and go from there.
Ordering special order retail right now sucks. I waited 6 months for irons this year.

All because people couldn’t handle a mean tweet every now and then

Because it had less to do with a make and model and more to do with one that fit my swing, etc.

I don’t want to do that, I want new clubs, that were fitted to me. If I’m still going to be shelling out possibly $900-$1000 for like new clubs, I’d rather just shell out the $1300 for fitted clubs to me that are new.

It does not make what TM and DTA have been doing regarding this matter acceptable.

Aren’t most of the other brands not having an issue at all?

What shafts were you fit into and what set makeup were you going with?

This is what I was fitted originally:
“2 degrees flat, +1/2in
KBS Tour C-Taper x130
Midsize grip”
But David Toms Academy called earlier and said they could get me Callaway Rogue ST Pros with Project X LS shafts and that they’d be here in two weeks.
So we’ll see.

Rumor has it that there's a TM P series iron refresh in the works. Supposed to be announced next month. They may be burning thru stock or it just maybe the Chinese have slowed forgings/castings down to a trickle.

If you want a p790, just order a set of 699 pros from Sub70. 1/2 the price and 2/3 weeks turn around for custom orders

Did you hit the Callaway with those shafts? Did you hit them equally as well? I just don't understand saying you want the clubs you were fitted for, and then ordering a completely different clubhead and shaft. Truly defeats the whole point of a fitting unless those 2 were somehow identical launch parameters for you.

I replied to a similar post in the past so it could be from the same OP??? From what I understand, TM has two physical sites that build clubs - one for direct on-line orders through the TM website and one from clubs, golf shops, etc. They treat on-line orders as higher priority. I ordered a set of 790s with KBS C-tapers in early March from my club and they told me they would arrive in August and at the same time, I ordered a set on-line with the idea I would cancel one of them. The ones I ordered on-line arrived in mid April. Of course, I had my specs.
It could be a KBS issue as I know at one time their shafts were hard to come by. Also, when you order a set of TMs on-line, they do not charge you until they are built.

I'd also be pissed, but DTA is not a "retail" dealer in a traditional sense. It's a private club that will order you custom clubs. They don't keep off the rack stuff for you and aren't placing mass orders for inventory. I know several people who order through them, and it is understood that when you want status, you have to call up there. Again, I'd be annoyed, but they owe you nothing in this scenario imo. It sounds like they're doing a good job of taking care of you tbh. I hope it works out.
