Sometimes getting fitted just doesn't work out.

Several weeks ago I did a putter fitting for a PXG Bat Attack Putter.
The fitter and the trackman data said that I should be using a double bend heel shafted putter.
I rolled the ball ok in the fitting with it, but on the course was a totally different story. I am use to a center-shafted putter mostly and have used a slant neck putter with decent results.
With the double bend shaft, my distance control was terrible, pulling putts left and I lost all confidence in making any putt over 5 feet.
Not the actual putters fault, the bat Attack feels great and looks great, it was just the heel shaft offset that did me in. If they offered the BA in a center-shafted model I would have got it.
I went early this morning and returned the Bat Attack and then went to PGA Superstore and got a center-shafted Odyssey # 11 mallet with the Stroke Lab shaft.
Just left the putting green by the house and was making a lot of putts and got the control back.

I picked up an old blade Ping Anser 2 at a garage sale for $1 a month ago. Put a slim Winn grip on it and made 75% putts within 8 feet for 45 minutes on the practice green. Played the next day and couldn’t make crap. Put it back in the storage room.

Sounds like a complicated putter fitting. My shop just uses the laser/mirror for a putter fitting. They put a laser directly behind a cup, put a mirror on the face of the putter, and then you line up for a putt. When you are set, they move the ball out of the way and you see where the mirror is reflecting the laser beam. If you are aligning well, the mirror is reflecting the laser back toward source and should be seen somewhere very near the laser source. If it is off in one direction or another, they start going through the different putters until you find one that you align correct naturally and that feels comfortable.

You don't get fitted to a putter you get fitted for a putter. Have you not had a SAM putting lab fitting? That is a far better solution than getting fit to a putter that doesn't fit your stroke.

First time that I ever tried something like that and will be my last.
I'm a decent putter, just wanted to try something new, didn't work, no big deal.

I had a similar experience.
I got fitted into a plumbers neck Brandon TM.
I aimed it so far left on the course it was amazing if I made any putts.
Now I’m in a center shafted tour edge putter. Making some putts now.
Looking at “torque balanced” options.

When you grab a putter, you just know. I put my Ping Ketch in time out and went back to my odyssey #7. The magic was there. Then it left.
The magic with the Ping is back. I can just feel it. When I miss, I know it’s me or it hit something on the green.

I’m the same way. Had a Scotty blade and was lights out for a while. Then had to go back to the #7 shape.
Recently bought a Toulon Las Vegas and a Toulon San Diego that I will rotate through. Sometimes one just feels better than the other.

Had the shaft come out of my Scotty this weekend. Grabbed a old odyssey putter I brought from a garage sale. Hated the skinny grip on it but I figured I give it a try. Putted great with it. So for now ole Scotty is going to get refurb.
