Man my swing is fluid. When people see it they are like “it seems really solid.” When I hit the sweet spot on my driver it f’ing slice hard. It’s my club face. I can’t seem to close it. Why?
Is there something I’m missing? When I try rotate my wrists through I just hook it low.
What’s something you do to keep a square face at impact ??

I have relatively few issues with my irons. It’s really getting annoying.

Lead tape on heel could help.

Would let the toe swing faster.

Or did I Mix that up? I’ll link a source

It could be SO many things that are throwing your path off.

However, try dropping your back foot a tad and watch this video. Enjoy your draw!

Or online video.

Stronger grip and close your stance, shoulders and hips. Create a more inside out path.

Try getting the shaft more shallow. At the top of your backswing you should feel like your right thumb is pointing behind you. It’s almost impossible to swing with a draw bias without doing that.

If he does that, the first move in transition will be to get steep.

100% of the time a slice is caused by an outside to in swing path with a face that is opened to that path at impact.

Without seeing a video, I’d bet you jerk the club inside on the way back, bringing to an across the line position at the top ( club pointing right of the target line). From there, you likely don’t stay on your left side coming down, which causes you to throw or cast the club at the ball.

Record yourself swinging, upload it to an anonymous YouTube account and post it here.

How so? I used to get way too steep until I got my right wrist cocked. Then I started hitting a draw with more consistency and control. The other way it almost had to be a pull draw.

Is it a slice? A push? A push slice? Each of these have pretty distinct causes

It’s a slice. If I get a nice smooth swing and hit it flush In the middle of my club face it has the flight pattern of a banana going right.

I often miss align my irons hitting right or left of green. That’s fine.
But the slice is killing me.

Got a lesson and this is what I was told to do as opposed to keeping my club closed which I know is amatuer but had me hitting the ball straight.

What is the best way to correct the slice here? Work on turning my wrists and tucking elbow? Instructor talked to be about having that rock skipping feeling on a lake.

Guess I just don't know what it should "Feel" like. I'm hitting my irons well with pointing at the target but I absolutely cannot get the driver right.

First thing I would try if I were you:

Strengthen the grip on your right hand and make sure you rotate your wrist at impact. (if you are swinging right handed). Rotate that grip just a little. Over compensating may make you hook it. Find the sweet spot on your grip.

If you have a weak grip or don't rotate your wrist, you'll block or slice the ball out to the right.

Helps me and this is how I teach my son. He's always having this issue.

That seems like a weird lesson to me. Most pros seemingly want you to take it back down the line, or even outside the line to an on plane position at the top... pointing just left of and parallel to the target line and then almost let the club “drop down” slightly to start the down swing. “Slotting the club”. From there, you can attack the ball from an inside to out path, which should promote a straight ball with either a little fade or draw depending on if you’re open or closed at impact.

Watch a video of Sergio’s driver swing to see an exagerated version of this or Rory to watch it done perfectly

It's you first move when you start your down swing. You're initiating with your shoulders ever so slightly and send the whole thing over the top.

Two tips:

Get to the top and let your legs drive the swing.

OR

Come wayyyyyyyy to the inside and initiate your swing on what you're use to doing. But wayyyy inside. The club head should feel like it goes behind you instead of "up"

ETA: I'm a slicer and the above tend to rein it in
